Seems like oh so long ago.

This is an obvious point, but cannot overstated. There is an enormous difference between deporting someone - where they get off a plane as a free citizen in their home country AND FUNNELING THEM INTO A BRUTAL PRISON FROM WHICH THEY HAVE NO CHANCE OF EVER EMERGING!!!
And for my part, I shall not wholly fail of my task, though Gondor should perish, if anything passes through this night that can still grow fair or bear fruit and flower again in days to come. For I also am a steward. Did you not know?”
- Gandalf
“The rule of no realm is mine, neither of Gondor nor any other, great or small. But all worthy things that are in peril as the world now stands, these are my care.
Our dystopian reality has outpaced grim hyperbole.
Fellow Christians, as we read about what's happening in El Salvador, there's a reason Scripture frequently talks about prisoners and the importance of seeing ourselves in them and why Christ Himself calls on us to visit the prisoner and show love and care, not fear and degradation.
It is clear to me that the idea of service is utterly foreign to those making decisions within this administration.
After all these years, I still have the capacity to be astonished by our work.

Be suspicious of anyone who fixates on IQ as a measure of intelligence. Real intelligence isn’t a number, it’s a burning curiosity, a delight in the world, a voracious hunger “to follow knowledge like a sinking star / beyond the utmost bound of human thought.”
In defense of hope.
“Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen:
to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke,
to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?
Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter..."
Isaiah 58:6-7
A trade deficit and a budget deficit are unrelated.
If you take seriously the idea that we need to have zero trade deficit with every country, we better get to helping massively develop every poor country until they’re rich enough to afford our high value manufactured goods. Sounds like a job for USAID.
We used to joke that the average American has forgotten the farm and thinks their food comes from grocery stores. Now it turns out that there is a subset that thinks it arrives fully prepared and isn’t even aware of the grocery stage.
Feeling like a big dumbass working on my taxes right now. Who am I sending this money to

Three things were critical to America's rise to become a superpower. One was a system of government that was both stable and an example to the world because it was a system "of laws and not of men." Next, was the trust earned by the country as a consequence of its stability. Third was...
Who needs a security clearance when they are making all their plans public anyway?
FWIW, I have been thinking of it a little like chemo. It isn't good for you, but maybe it will kill the cancer.
Our daughter Becky, a 28-year-old British tourist, has been caught up in the recent immigration crackdown in the US. What was meant to be a life-changing four-month backpacking trip across North America has turned into a nightmare.
Again, too many Americans still don’t realize how offensive, dangerous, & deadly serious this is to Canadians, & we absolutely would not tolerate being told to calm down if other countries’ leaders were talking about annexing our territory or ending our sovereignty 🇨🇦

We're finally on our own.
This is Marco Rubio explaining how the USA promised to defend Ukraine forever if they got rid of their nuclear arsenal left after the Soviet Union fell.
This is why lil marco was sinking into the couch. He was hoping we wouldn’t find it…so don’t RT right now this very second.
Heartbroken by the destruction of USAID. It is clear to me that the idea of service is utterly foreign to those making decisions within this administration.
There needs to be an option other than "like". This is impossible to like
BREAKING: USAID contractors/aid recipients say Secretary Rubio and USAID leader Peter Marocco should be held in civil contempt for violating a court order to lift spending freeze.
There's a darkness upon me that's flooded in light
And I'm frightened by those who don't see it
