He’s been brought to life!! @/kamenridersilver (IG) did an incredible job sculpting and printing my Kaiju OC. I can’t wait to paint him up- I can’t stop looking at him. This is one of the coolest things I own now, by far 👁️👁️

I still can’t believe it’s been 2 years now since School of Dragons officially shut down. We timed the movie trilogy to end when the servers went offline ❤️‍🩹 So thankful to SoDOFF (and the other emulator(s?) I need to try too) for making it playable still. My dragons are special to me, pixels or not 🩵

I got too impatient and wanted to show off a WIP👁️👁️ Trying something new. Usually for metallic paintjobs I build up matte shading first and then drybrush on metallic paints and finish with a black wash, but the Razorwhip’s plates are a clean, reflective chrome. So, I’m trying out new things..👀

Finally finished repainting my Stormfly/Deadly Nadder figure! I know- I forgot I had bluesky again until today 😅 Going to post a picture of what the toy looks like before the repaint in the comments as well as a group pic of the 4 I’ve done so far.

Been redesigning my favorite HTTYD species (besides Zippleback) and I’m liking it so far. Doing a live action attempt considering the species is canon to the live action movie 👁️👁️ which is still so surreal to me. Anyway, got lots of ideas for this guy

I’ll still try to keep up with the HIYA Godzilla line bc it’s amazing. I would like some of the new Jurassic Rebirth figs to repaint, but it’s all dragons for me for a while. Some of it is getting back things I wish I never let go of as a kid.

Collection update: just finished ordering everybody to complete my McDonalds (EU) HTTYD 2 collection, and started on the other fast food HTTYD collections. Waiting on a handful of Playmobils to arrive as well as my grail (Live Spectacular Stormfly). Not collecting any other franchises for a while 😅

Been running around all day. Coming home with me, Yoda is! Wellll only for a week. Fixing him up and then there’s a biggggg commission I’ll be putting together and painting in the box next to him. And I still need to finish my personal project before HTTYD live action releases! Busyyyy!

He’s fine tho btw. This happened the other day but I forgot I didn’t publicly shame him yet 🤣

I was eating a biscuit and he was resting on me, until a crumb dropped, and he lunged for it. He didn’t think for even a second. I couldn’t pry all of it outta his mouth so he got away with some. He is NOT supposed to eat that 👁️👁️

Critique the media you love most of all. Critiquing isn’t hating. It’s voicing honest feedback and being stern about things that are substandard. It’s how you get better media. Speak up about things that do and don’t work. Nothing is perfect nor is it unsalvageable. Critique is a great tool. 🫶

I’ll pick that apart some other time and don’t get me wrong - I DO still love Toothless no matter what and I do love a lot of things about the movies these designs come from. But not enough people fairly criticize them and since they didn’t after HTTYD 3, look which design is back again. (8/9)

Completely contradicts the message they wanted with the 3rd movie. If they kept his earlier design/s it would actually elevate their message somewhat. The live action designs are a whole can of worms to unpack. The complete neglect of research that went into its designs is just disappointing. (7/?)

But they behave and look VERY different from house cats. Instead of at least leaning into those aspects, they trashed it along with all of his reptile and amphibian influence to essentially “domesticate” him. To sell toys, slap his face on more shirts, the works. Funnily enough his design (6/?)

Wing shapes and called it a day. I think the biggest catalyst for this degradation over time has got to be them leaning into the fans’ comments. Everyone loves to say he’s so “cat-coded” because they don’t know much about other animals, I guess. Yes, he takes influence from black panthers, (5/?)

Color was interjected back in with his iridescent scales. That was a nice touch , but - why not work color back into his skintones? The wings also make no sense. Real bat wings have a closer shape to his animated designs than the live action, but they just took the game of thrones dragons’ (4/?)

Into a blockhead instead of a sleek, aerodynamic build, and made him WAY too cutesy. The live action unfortunately uses the HTTYD3 design as a base and is essentially just heavily retextured and some elements changed, like his feet, wing shape (why) and at least for the silver lining, (3/?)

he retained these great key design elements throughout all the shows and then still was a pretty solid design in the 2nd movie. A little more cutesy, a little less colorful/less prominent patterns, but still overall pretty good. But by the 3rd movie? Removed ALL his color/patterns, turned him (2/?)
