I hate how often I start following a gaming channel on YouTube, they seem funny and relatively normal, then 5 or 6 videos in they randomly throw in a slur.
everything we are seeing now is the consequence of having a political environment in which indifference to the deaths and suffering of other people - even by the state whose supposed responsibility is to safeguard their welfare - is a superpower rather than a political liability

I found it on a display at Austin Public Library and really glad that I did! 💜

I'm getting by day to day right now, but I'll make it. Hope its as well as can be right now.
I really appreciate Garrison Davis devoting an episode of It Could Happen Here podcast to pushing back on some clickbait about trans rights, such as the myth that ICE is beginning a widespread roundup of transgender people. Garrison doesn't downplay the risks we face but focuses on the actual facts.
I finished Pantheon on Netflix last night and I can't remember seeing a show that felt so psychedelic as the last few episodes of season 2. Best treatment of consciousness uploading as a concept that I've seen in TV sci fi. Kinda messy in places but highly recommended.
what i love especially about all these stories is that i have a hundred stories and ideas that i can't get placed because the 5 remaining left indie outlets are all way maxxed out, but the places with all the resources are just reprinting press releases left and right.
Nonprofits ostensibly focused on ensuring First Amendment protections also turned their backs. (To this day, the ACLU of Texas has yet to comment.) “The reputation of these cases, and the way that the federal government described them, made people run from them.”
"CEO said a thing!" journalism involves parroting the claims of a business leader or executive with absolutely no context, correction, or challenge whatsoever, no matter how elaborate the delusion.

“We needed to capture this moment in history ... [so that] no one can say this didn’t happen … and really just for people to understand the human toll that these state laws and now the federal government is having on these families, that they have become political refugees in their own country.”
Despite the fact that a THCA-hemp ban went into effect today, Austin Police admit they still aren't going after most possession charges, and don't really have the capacity to worry about flower packaged as hemp. www.kut.org/business/202...
My first visit to Texas was to go to San Marcos to read the university’s King of the Hill archives and baby I fell in love with the place. Happy to hear San Marcos still has a big heart!

New @thebarbedwire.com for Trans Day Of Visibility: After meeting at SXSW, I interviewed nonbinary assistant teacher Indigo Giles about special education and how to be out and proud when they're not even allowed, under Texas law, to discuss their pronouns with students.
