The people demanding age verification etc should take a long look at Japan's model - which works very differently than is being proposed here.

In no way am I surprised. She tried to claim she was being "reasonable", but refused to talk to experts, nor the community.

Instead, she found a small handful of "pick me" trans people so she could claim to have "consulted".

The Cass Review is arguably junk science from stem to stern.

Splitting hairs - the government didn't - but she just means MLAs in Cabinet when she says that.

Orwell's 1984 was a warning, not a how-to manual.

Then the new generation of fascists arose ...

Fascists gonna fash. This is about as surprising today as "water is wet".

The UCP is in no way interested in democracy.

This is evil. Sorry but it is. Imagine thinking a nonverbal CHILD with intellectual disabilities can unearn their right to equal access to public education. These are the most vulnerable already stereotyped as “aggressive” “complex”. Inclusion is a human right.

Ben Mulroney - I can't stand him, but I could see some people thinking he has "star appeal".

The problem there is that the party has a long history of adopting awful people and even more awful policies. I can't imagine a leader emerging that can persuade me the party has changed its stripes.

Even at a significant discount on the price, the plane will be available for him to use for quite some time. Executive jets don't exactly change hands like your average car ...

The Gravy Plane will fly! /snark

Ah yes - the old "but rural ridings are soooo much harder to manage" claim. In no way should that result in a rural vote being worth double or more what an urban resident's vote is worth.

Gerrymandering the riding map was always the goal. When the independent commission wouldn't bow down to the pressure, the UCP decided to spike their recommendations.

It's already here - it's been here ever since the UCP took power.

Smith and her UCP have no soul - cruelty and violence is their goal.

It's another tool that fascists use - in this case, it's part of the "aren't we special" nationalism crap. Alberta exceptionalism is hot garbage, but boy do conservatives lap it up.

Shades of Klein saying “they don’t look disabled to me”.

She is trying to rewrite decades of medical ethics to suit her biases.

It was ... revealing.

The UCP has a very selective approach to scientific inquiry. It's great when it fits their pre-ordained conclusions, and "inconclusive" when it doesn't.

It's funny how when they say absolutely horrible, bigoted things, it's always "you're taking me out of context" is the response.

Caylan is articulate, but her bigotry was on full display.

The actual voting took place in February online, and was open to all qualified members. The AGM would be the formalization of the vote results, and some other administrative tasks that have to be carried out.

Eg - check their bylaws and slap them with it.

4 days ago 2 0 1 0

I don't think that's how it works - the organization's bylaws would have to be changed. The wording of that message is crap - you would have had to have purchased a membership BEFORE November 1, 2025, but not necessarily in that fiscal year.

When Is A Person A TERF? The short answer is "when they are using TERF arguments to argue against transgender rights and/or treatment issues.   The longer answer is...

She's also a classic dishonest debater. When confronted with evidence that disproves her position, she just moves the goalposts around.

All nicely paid for by the UCP, of course.

Not all idiots are conservatives, but conservatives are overwhelmingly idiots (especially when it comes to topics like trans people)

Start with disallowing laws that strip people of their right to exist in society - like Alberta’s anti-trans laws.
