SAYING READY OR NOT 2: HERE I COME, AND THEY WILL KILL YOU ARE THE SAME MOVIE PROVES YOU FAILED SCRIPT ANALYSIS AND DIMINISHES THE IMPORTANCE OF BLACK GIRL RAGE Two women fighting back, two completely different conversations: mistaking Ready or Not 2 and They Will Kill You for the same story exposes how quickly media literacy collapses when Black girl rage…

Great piece by Sharai on two ⭐very⭐ different films with similar family dynamics. They Will Kill You was definitely more of a hit for me because it is so aware of tone that you just go with every single mad second it offers you.

Absolutely! There's a tendency to want to legitimise horror constantly (understandable given it is constantly critiqued) by over analysis (I'm as guilty as anyone) but ultimately you can just rely on a fun take on tried and tested formula.

There's also still a lot of snobbery around it too. Anything that isn't going to be called "elevated" is sort of a bit of an embarrassment to studios it feels like. But it's where just as much inventive stuff is.

I'm hoping this means at least a little more acknowledgement that horror more often than not makes money and so there's more chance for even more in this kind of range.
