I like the idea of setting up a Margin!

It works, but it's missing things
We ship pdf.js with our extension so you can annotate PDF files, which adds +2MB to the extension, apparently Firefox doesn't like that
This causes the Firefox extension to be unstable with Margin due to many changes we've done like caching
@firefox.com, would be nice if you would approve our extension for the 82 firefox margin users!
The Firefox extension is 2 versions behind because the Firefox Addons team takes their time (1+ month and counting!) to approve the versions
Even Edge is ahead...

margin.at/margin.at/co...
Hello everyone,
We've bought high thigh socks for all of our team members and they have come to the conclusion that we will be rewriting Margin in Rust
Thank you for your understanding.
We are going to be pausing all side projects and new features temporarily while we work on hardening Margin and making it easy, bug-free, and enjoyable.
We hope this will only be for this week, but expect Margin to be nicer and easier to use soon.
We've just posted a guide that might help you fix this issue
status.margin.at/history
We will probably add a way to import your bluesky follows or give an option to include them
Not yet, but we do want to implement some sort of following feature on the future.
We understand that there are some issues with the chrome/firefox extension login, rest assured, we are looking into it and we will fix it as soon as possible.
Updates: status.margin.at
We'll look into it, thanks.
Welcome to ATmosphereConf 2026!
The Margin team has set-up a tab on Margin where you can tag your annotations, highlights, and bookmarks with #ATmosphereConf and see all ATmosphereConf related notes
We've also added a banner linking to the ATmosphereConf feed in Bluesky.
margin.cafe is now back open!
We think that this was fully resolved
Mar 24 • 18:53 UTC Migration has now been completed for both margin.cafe and margin.at Mar 24 • 18:50 UTC We are now currently migrating the main margin.at service, which includes the backend and web app. Mar 24 • 15:36 UTC Working on restoring margin.cafe as much as we can, existing accounts will not be able to migrate off margin.cafe, ever, unless you had another rotation key New accounts will be able to use margin.cafe as usual as soon as we restore it. Mar 24 • 12:29 UTC margin.cafe migration is in progress, margin.at and scanash.com are both down, updates will be done through status.margin.at Mar 24 • 12:16 UTC We are working on migrating margin.at and margin.cafe
After 6 hours of hard work and configuration, we have fully completed migrating Margin to a faster, better server.
Thank you everyone for your patience, downtime for margin.at was 2 minutes, and we do not talk about what happened to margin.cafe
Our team will re-open margin.cafe in the coming hours
Margin community is really chill!!
We were able to recover this account, scan is not that dumb so he had a backup rotation key for this account and we were able to restore it and add the new rotation key of the PDS
Now, his account.... his account is dun dun dun!
Note: This doesn't disturb margin.at, as it is hosted on another VPS at this moment
We are now temporarily making margin.cafe invite-only while we figure out what to do about this, sorry!
Hello everyone,
@scanash.com is dumb, very dumb, and forgot to back up the envs of margin.cafe while migrating, and wiped the disk of the old VPS
This means that all accounts on margin.cafe (except this one, we have backups) will be locked on margin.cafe forever, including his, @scanash.com
We just deployed our status page to a different VPS -> status.margin.at
We will post updates there, margin.cafe will be down which means this account and @scanash.com will be down too temporarily!
The old server will be cancelled and it's haunted so I wouldn't touch it
Hey!
We are working on migrating margin.cafe, margin.at, and all margin services to a new server.
There might be some minimal downtime, but we are going to make sure this change goes as smooth as possible.
GitHub is our main, but we added Tangled as an origin too, so when we git push it commits to both.
We are going to be releasing some new Margin features/😉 soon, stay tuned!

You can now save articles from @skyreader.app to your @semble.so and @margin.at collections!
Hey everyone,
We would like to keep Margin free and great for you!
