Not. At. All.
At least the book was appropriate. It's about the horror genre and America as an empire.

Wit, unker, git: The lost medieval pronouns of English intimacy Tales of love and adventure from 1,000 years ago reveal a dazzling range of now-extinct English pronouns. They capture something unique about how people once thought about "two-ness".

We should bring back these lost pronouns, partly because they are cool, and partly to annoy the TERFs (bonus point to the article for mentioning Chaucer’s use of the singular β€˜they’).

Things i enjoy: a book I ordered coming in at my local indie bookstore
Things i do not enjoy: picking it up on the way to the ER bc bodies are bodying. I'm already upset about the state of the world. I need my body to not fall apart as the world does.

Because I can't help myself re: schooling, I've started a post gradcertificate in Digital Health this week. There are some pretty cool people there.

Attended via Zoom an amazing talk by @carlbergstrom.com on peer reviewing in academic journals. Thanks to Otago's public health department!

Watching Star Trek for academic purposes just might be the best way to spend a rainy day or three. Hot chocolate or tea is a must.

THREAD: Viral misinformation on US capture of Nicolas Maduro - 4 January

This video, shared by Alex Jones and others, falsely claims to show millions of Venezuelans in Caracas celebrating Maduro's capture.

In fact, it shows anti-Maduro protests in July 2024 over a highly disputed election.

Card with two lobsters in the background. A red and pink cloth with salty sea bag written on it in black letters. Cute heart ornament made from i think felt (lol heartfelt). A bag of looseleaf tea.

The lobster card is ADORABLE and I love book recs. I am a salty sea hat, tyvm. The heartfelt ornament is already on the tree and I can't wait to taste the tea. I might use it to make tea soup (from a vegan Vietnamese cookbook I have).
