My New Modular System. Instrument-building has been my craft for 30 years. I've folded all of that experience into a system that keeps you in creative flow from the first patch cable to the last note of a live performance.

Evidence continues to mount. It's tough, too, as a lot of us have forgotten even which of our music is there -- a track on a compilation, that label used a DSP, etc. etc. So part of this is going to wind up being building up that value and independence, not only boycotts. Fighting a firehose.
the universe of geronto-gods...
Crowdfunding is not crowdfunding as it should be: it's paying in advance. The nuances matter here imho
So - no - crowdfouding is not an amazing concept... it is in theory, not in practice... Getting the reward too early can kill the hunger that made the thing worth doing.
Identity shift...
You move from “I’m exploring something” to “I must deliver X” ->>> narrower thinking, less risk-taking.
Obligation replaces desire...
What started as play/vision becomes duty to investors/backers ->>> more anxiety, less flow.
Dopamine got paid upfront...
Neuroscience angle: anticipation fuels action. If you “cash in” early (funding, praise), your brain partly closes the loop before the work is done.
Tension disappears = less creative energy...
Thinkers like Friedrich Nietzsche or Albert Camus would say:
creation feeds on lack, pressure, necessity. Remove that, and you remove the existential push.
Motivation drops when reward comes early:
In psychology it’s called overjustification effect: when you get external reward (money, funding, validation) before doing the work, it can weaken intrinsic drive. The struggle itself was part of the engine.
