Have to agree, Paul. The thing about Carney is he’s the whole package - diplomatically and politically good, but he also looks the part and is charismatic. I can’t think of anyone like that in current U.K. politics, if I’m honest.

He’s not even an MP, living in the UK nor in frontline politics any more. While I thought a lot of DM (I worked with him for a short while when he was in DEFRA), he’s just not even a possibility. He makes far too much in the US, >$1m pa, and his family are settled there.

Totally agree with this. If constituents aren’t being represented then there should be a better way to recall MPs and get them moved out. Obviously this has to be within reason as you will get people trying to do the Hokey Cokey with their MPs every five minutes!

The issue with people is so many of them want popular, someone who looks the part, when in reality that’s the opposite of what we need. We need a diplomatic doer who wants what’s best for the country. Tbh none of the other party leaders give me that in full.

I’m not sure I agree, much of the country just goes with what they read in the Fail, see on the BBC etc so bad media would lead to much the same. I honestly can’t think of anyone I could see as PM in the party right now. I’m sure I’m not alone. Darren Jones is a future contender, but he’s not ready.

Unfortunately his eagerness to please the US & Trump, and to some extent the rabid RW rags early in his premiership, let him down. Fwiw I think we’re seeing a more emboldened and hardened Starmer now as a consequence. Not a bad thing in some ways.

When you know you are right and you know the facts are there to prove it, you tend to dig your heels in and come out fighting. Tbh I never thought he lied about the clearance and said so, he’s just not the type. I wasn’t 100% on Lammy, but it appears he too was kept out the loop. It was all true!

This below though 🔥. He really is showing what he’s made of. As I said elsewhere, he may have made mistakes, but he isn’t just going to quit or back down. He had a relatively hard upbringing and worked for everything he has. He’s a harder man than many think.
