Yes, I dislike scapegoating of players intensely - we are having a fantastic season & the squad we have is remarkable- they are young - they are still learning - they all have strengths & weaknesses. The levels of fume that’s bilged out by some of our keyboard warriors is embarrassing & perverse.

What did you make of isidor’s reaction to scoring the equaliser? Certainly looked irritated rather than joyful to me. Clearly has been a frustrating time for him with lack of game time - hopefully it will propel him into one of those runs.

Not too downhearted- we have remarkable spirit and never give up - should’a would’a could’a - so close to a comeback of the ages - but if don’t take your guilt edged chances at this level - it invariably bites you!

Fab band - so much great indie from around that time, part of the My Space & Napster boom - faves included Monkey Swallows the Universe, Lucky Soul, The Thermals, Pete & the pirates, I’m
From Barcelona, Shady Bard, The concretes & shout out Louds - Barfly was one of the best venues too see them 🫶

Cracking listen - agree with the list in general. I’d have possibly put 3-2 v Bournemouth in ahead of City, as it was critical in us continuing to look up, having starting to wobble a bit in league and falling 2-0 down. That was a day when I thought we were absolutely fine here.

Great LP & song - Depends if throw the National in to that category or not - 2020s output has been very strong - Frankenstein LP in particular.

Bluesky is far more like old Twitter - tends to be a less hate & not a bot in sight - fabulous win today, stayed in it and deserved the win for our determination & ambition - going to enjoy revelling in this for 3 weeks - plenty to of podcasts will be downloaded over Easter! 🫶😍

Incredible- what a team - freedom of city to them all!

Not out of it, but very much second best to so-so Newcastle overall - architects of our own downfall yet again - Ballard & Roefs size hole costing us. Need to show more composure when we do get into good positions. Stay in it until 65 and may need to risk a few off the bench.

Head over heart stuff, which is the Regis way - this is our cup final with 7 pretty much dead rubbers to see the season out, after the Easter break. There’s an argument to gamble, but probably the right call to not start the 3 or 4 who are not quite ready - but it may be a tough watch today! 🙏

Very nice - was just talking to my teenage son the other week about the need for his generation to keep the whistle going- a dying art - Alene had nailed it on this 🤗

As midtable a game as you could imagine- ended first half & started second half well - but pretty flat otherwise. I think a draw would have been right, bang average overall, a game of fine margins and a pretty awful goal to concede.

Yes, GBN seems very prominent on my menu too - maybe watching traitors, Alan partridge, gone fishing, cricket, football, family films and music documentaries gives me the algorithm of a massive, ignorant racist!

Good analysis & contributions as always - cheers Phil.

Today was really poor, Phil. It also brought to mind where we have come from & what may be needed moving forward. Without some of our 1st X1, this reminded me of performances against spirited but limited lower league opposition, granted on a tricky pitch. What did today tell us about squad depth?

Absolutely dreadful. Outbattled and largely outplayed by relegation fodder in league one - flashbacks to the worst days in that league - as good as port vale were, we are truly woeful weren’t we? The lads who had an opportunity to stake a claim in starting 11 failed miserably.

Will listen to pod later - but assume it’s about Roefs who may be out until Mags according to reliable sources.

Certainly can see the improvement with Xhaka back - started very well but Bournemouth are a very decent team & could easily be level - think we are inviting too much space down both wings - most notably on right.

Are you looking upwards or downwards? The standard Sunderland response to 3 losses on the spin is to catastrophise, and seeing some of that on the socials. However, we’re on 36 points in Feb for a reason - so surely we should still be expectant of a decent finish, rather than a capitulation?

Just about enough depth to manage - sounds like they’ll aim to have Brobbey & Mukiele back from the league games after the FA cup possibly? Big chance for Mayenda and / or Isador to step up.

Yup, it was a game of small margins, we’ve generally come out on top of those at home. Fulham were just smarter & more clinical than us in the vital moments - if we score first, the crowd lifts and we know this team responds to that -so we probably don’t concede the sloppy set piece goals either.
