yeah the average person doesn’t need much which means using linux isn’t difficult. the only problem is installing linux and if they have a helpful person like you then that part is taken care of

it’s more complex because

1. it’s not pre installed

2. a lot of software isn’t supported on linux

you don’t need to open the terminal otherwise.

all in all i actually found it easier for ME specifically because i didn’t have to deal with signing into microsoft and deleting onedrive which broke my system

there were other complications but that was beyond installing nixos and was my fault for wanting everything to be perfect and me trying to be a high speed tech nerd.

in total it took about 90mins but could be much less if we took out waiting for things to be downloaded and installed

like for me the first time downloading linux i felt like i was going to break something but it only took me less than an hour to go from putting nixos on a flash drive to having it usable. had to download nvidia driver afterwards and it was pretty much done.

also people think linux is hard to use because they see people opening up the terminal to do super complex tasks. they don’t realize that, due to linux not being pre-installed, linux preselects the kind of person who want to do those complex tasks.

installing linux isn’t harder than windows but the average person isn’t installing windows on a fresh built pc.

a lot of software that’s supported on linux is just a few clicks to install however the ones are not supported require a workaround.
