The one-off episodes are more about character development while the serial episodes are more about plot development.

I've been writing fanfic that tweak how I'd prefer a series to have gone or continue instead of just grousing about the official version (eg Alana dragged Michael to a vet, fought through HiHi's goons to escape but later #Mr&MrsSmith got recruited by a splinter philanthropic spy Organization).

I stopped watching that when I started catching things that WERE EXPLAINED IN THE MOVIE--repeatedly.

If you can tell how a story will go and:

-You like the a story then it's "logical".

-You don't like it then it's "predictable".

Most pets don't get old. Most die in their teens or twenties.

Imagine the increased concessions sales!

The rush for ad-free TV has led to the demise of the tv promo of the next episode.

And streaming shows don't like to include promos for the next episode, ostensibly to avoid spoiling it but you could put it at end of credits who'd like to see it.

E) Lack of annoying people.
F) Not having to drive an hour to the nearest theater SEVERAL towns away.

That's basically most streaming shows these days with their season long serial story arcs.

Agreed. I think it's also a feeling of accomplishment. I've completed 3 episodes vs I've completed one third of a movie.

Physical newspapers ... so 20th. With the new millennium and broadband Internet and broadband cable came online news and cable news and never going back to just the Sun-Times or Trib. I could get news 24 hours a day.
