It's no wonder that Wageningen has been named the world's best agricultural university for more than 10 years in a row.

SQL, TeX and Python. Problem arises when it reads the apostrophe as the end of a string. Have to use \' often

Why did we decide that 's-Hertogenbosch and 's-Gravenhage should start with an apostrophe. It breaks my code every time.

Someday, with luck and hard work, she will have a name too.

Please correct me if I'm wrong. I didn't look into night trains too much, only the Stockholm - Hamburg train and the internal Swedish night trains.

I'd guess 3,5 days roughly. You can probably do Finland - Stockholm in 24 hours, then a day to get to southern France, a day to Portugal (hardest part is getting from Madrid to Lisbon) and lastly the trip down to Lagos.

Might be able to do it a little faster, but surely not less than 2,5 days

The classic "make direct flights expensive" that the airlines always do. Honestly, I make use of it quite frequently. Flying to China this summer and flying indirect saves me €400. My value of time is not high enough yet for that to be a problem

Victoria has made public transport free – NSW hasn’t. Has there been any difference in uptake? Public transport access, travel time and familiarity with the network all play a role in how many people switch away from driving.

Is making public transport free “effective?”

“…the relatively small difference between Victoria and NSW suggests price is not the main constraint on mode shift. Access, travel time, service reliability and the ability to make specific trips appear to matter more.”

There is no demand to fly to EWR, it's a hellscape you never want to visit

Walking. There is a hardware store just across the tracks and the weather is beautiful.

Old vs. New platform roof at Amsterdam Zuid. Much more spacious even if only vertically. It makes it feel more comfortable and less crowded.

Sometimes I take the ICE home via Amsterdam as a treat. It might take longer, but the experience is 100x better and still free.

Great that they have added the fail-safe to the system for people who tap twice, very user friendly. I did notice that this system was already in place elsewhere, do you know if it existed on the transitway before O-train?

What makes this even more unique is the mix of on-board fare collection with the new off-board fare-gates. I wonder if the system registers if someone taps-on twice or if it charges you double.

Are there more examples of this mix in fare collection on buses?

I think it's really interesting what Ottawa is doing with fare collection on its new multimodal stations. The whole bus terminal is a fare-paid zone with a small entrance house (yellow) with a fare gate line for both bus and LRT (pink).

Lengthy but interesting procedure to get an overheight truck off of the highway under Schiphol. The whole guardrail raises.
