The grift never ends. Most corrupt regime in history
The cognitive dissonance of living a life of taking my kid to school, watching the flowers bloom, practicing a new piano piece because I find it beautiful, learning harder sudoku techniques, while also being aware of the [gestures broadly] in the world is simply too much to verbalize.
The entire country has seemingly hallucinated an ultra woke 2024 campaign that featured a far left progressive candidate who lost in a massive landslide election. None of that happened!
Why "tough on crime" isn't about being tough on crime, but tough on people, in one simple graph.
ALL sorts of other government services--the ones conservative pols denigrate while wrapping themselves in Blue Lives Matter flags--play a huge role in keeping us safe.

Disappointed, though not surprised, I began to describe various life- saving components of USAID’s global health portfolio, highlighting how we prepare for and respond to emerging pandemic threats; support the diagnosis and treatment of tuberculosis, malaria, and HIV; and immunize millions of children from the deadliest childhood diseases. I spoke for about five minutes, focusing primarily on our infectious diseases work and hoping to keep the attention of people who seemed to have no experience—or interest—in global health. When I finished, the room was silent, the political appointees looking at one another in what appeared to be disbelief. The silence was broken by Ken Jackson, who chuckled softly and shook his head. “Wow, there really is so much that USAID does that we never knew,” he said. “This is the story that needs to get out there.” Joel, also smiling, chimed in next, echoing Jackson’s amazement. “I had no idea you did all this,” he said. “As a Republican, when I think of what USAID does in global health, I assumed it was just, you know, abortions.”
This is NUTS

I genuinely believe that people don't appreciate just how much of all the bad vibes right now are still largely a COVID hangover. It was a profoundly traumatizing event for American society, on the order of the civil war or the great depression and we've largely decided to just pretend
Imagine a study that found kids with ADHD have more visits to doctors than kids without ADHD — and used that finding to suggest ADHD treatment doesn't work. That's the standard of evidence the anti-trans braintrust is willing to accept.
This woman is a handpicked Trump supporter from Arkansas and she is less anti-trans than the median Atlantic columnist
it’s not at all likely but I got a brief chuckle out of imagining the timing is bc they’re worried Bondi is going to try and get revenge for the humiliating firing by going real housewives of mar a lago on melania
"sorry I can't come to your once-in-250-years party. I'll be busy doing something it would actually make much more logical sense to do four days later. I bumped it up on purpose so I could throw it in your face. eat shit forever, amen"

Hey did you know today is Florence Price’s birthday and if she’s not already one of your favorite composers, she should be
I, personally, would like to be on the dark side of the Moon too.
I've asked about getting the shingles vaccine asap and am SO mad that it's not available until you're 50.
The deleterious effects of not having a hobby are becoming a defining point in this cultural moment—and who is poised to help? That’s right: the autistics. Job fair day where we all set up tables explaining our deep dives and give people a hand out, a path back to society.
Yet anti-LGBTQ+ therapists now enjoy a First Amendment right that is denied to abortion providers. But as Jackson pointed out, the inconsistency runs deeper. After Chiles, parents who seek to “convert” their transgender children have a constitutional right to do so. But thanks to last year’s decision in Skrmetti, parents who seek to affirm their transgender children with medication have no such right. States can ban gender-affirming medication but evidently cannot ban anti-transgender talk therapy. And the majority does not explain why anti-LGBTQ+ speech receives heightened protections when other viewpoints do not. Surely, Jackson wrote, a state can direct doctors to discourage, and not encourage, smoking cigarettes. It can prohibit doctors “from telling an anorexic patient to eat less” while allowing them to recommend eating more. It can stop doctors from encouraging patients to end their lives. These laws, too, censor speech on the basis of the state’s preferred viewpoint—in Gorsuch’s words, they “enforce orthodoxy.” Why is it, then, that nobody seriously argues that they’d violate the First Amendment, too?
The Supreme Court's "conversion therapy" decision today is indefensible on its own terms. A ton of medical regulations restrict speech on the basis of "viewpoint." Nobody thinks they're unconstitutional. This court just subjects pro-LGBTQ protections to special hostility. slate.com/news-and-pol...

But sure, go ahead.
More of this, please. I want to see it all fail. I want the theft slop bullshit to collapse into a vat of its own bullshit. May it crash so hard that the dot com burst of the early 2000s seems like a mere blip www.cbc.ca/news/world/s...

Ladies and gentlemen, the President of the United States
I'm getting questions about why there are trans characters in my Fantasy novel.
There's a simple answer: trans people don't need to justify existing.
Glad to clear that up!
A lot of people need to go to jail if we have any hope of going back to the status quo ante.
yes if we switched to single payer that would mean higher taxes
…which would (should) replace money we are already spending privately, but… less
Had to doublecheck the date on this
I choose love over hate.
And bigger love when love comes.
If you're unsure about trans people,
Chiitan isn't asking you to understand.
Just watch over them kindly.
Trans folks simply want to laugh, love & grow
with those who light up their world. 🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈
There should be an Earth for people who don't hate all living things
it's 2016: north carolina introduces a bill to ban trans people from using bathrooms safely. there's a national outcry; companies withdraw business up to and including the NCAA cancelling a publicized game. the bill fails.
it's 2026: kansas passes a law nullifying trans people's licenses. crickets.
the "just asking questions" to "legitimate questions about fairness in sports" to "the state doesn't have to consider us as real people" pipeline working exactly as designed.
