Haha, yeah, I'd had that exact thought about it!

I've found ads on Reddit to be extremely inconsistent. The first ad I ran was by far my most successful on any platform I've ever experimented with concerning ads. I tried running the same one a few months later again and it did absolutely nothing.
"You can't turn a butterfly back into a caterpillar, but you sure can rip off her wings." Is this an indication I'm about to begin work on Sekhmet 3? Now that Gabriel 1 is in the 'sit on it' stage... Maybe.
There is some kind of study to be done on how the "then I lift" version of this took over despite coming later and being markedly inferior to the original which ended on "EVERY MORning" which implied the guy had basically crashed out.
You know the best way to kill AI? Don't use it. Don't buy it. Don't share it. Don't give the people who use it your labour or your money.
Check out what my friend did!!
Devouring Fortune book cover. Features a woman with folded arms on the cover. Her arms are crossed. She has straight black hair and her skin is light brown. She has a haunted expression. She is dressed in a white priestess outfit with wrapped bandages up her arms. Behind her lurks a monstrous skeleton whispering in her ear. They are surrounded by red flowers.
I'm happy to say today is the day for the book cover reveal of DEVOURING FORTUNE! @jeleynai.bsky.social did an incredible job on the illustration, I'm in awe.
For fans of Tanith Lee and A.K. Larkwood, about bargains gone wrong.

Ugh, that should read "an immortal..." Draft should be completed by mid-year, if not earlier!

Sort of #Watchmen meets #Evangelion with a good dose of #thepowerfantasy!

Yeah, like a week or two ago!
Sabra kicked it off and is prosecuting it with ruthless efficiency. For love.
“Sabra,” Revenant said. “Do you know what love is? What it really means? It’s when you place one thing—one very fragile thing—above everything else in the world. It’s when you say sine qua non—without which, not.”
Jack loves Elias. Unfortunately, he shot him dead.
Sabra loves Revenant. Unfortunately, she's enslaved and programmed to kill her.
Sam squinting at the poster, trying to figure out if it's a cheetah or a leopard.
rikku.art over on Instagram did these incredible portraits of the six leading misfits from the Sekhmet trilogy. Really managed to capture them all wonderfully! #art #books #characterportraits
For all you #PowerFantasy readers (like myself!) who want something similar: "The tone and scale of Rhodes’ writing immediately made me think of comic books like Power Fantasy... which makes me believe that there is an audience for In Sekhmet’s Shadow out there." a.co/d/d8cdaHM #thepowerfantasy
Still works perfectly in Master Shake's voice.
I love your spritework. How would you go with, say, power armor and not a mecha per se? They're pretty similar, right?
ANUBIS: (presses button with paw) [guilty]
OSIRIS: im sorry he does this when he's hungry
ANUBIS: (button) [guilty] [bad] [food]
OSIRIS: you already ate
ANUBIS: (button) [bad] [bad] [bad]
OSIRIS: he's right though we weighed your heart against the feather and its not looking good
The creepiest cover? I'm honored, haha! But it makes me think of the more intense expression in a concept sketch @tommyarnoldart.com and I nixed because we thought it might be *too* unsettling!
Excited to see it all unfold.
screenshot of a tumblr post from user “wildmansters” The thing that really boils my potatoes about Al in general is that I have been a creative professional for over a decade now and the devil has ALWAYS been in the details. Big and small, I've had single-person businesses rip me to shreds over how their colors turned out on newsprint, and have worked with huge companies with THICK brand guidelines with every detail of their brand identity laid out and enforced with an iron fist. But I guess all of that stuff doesn't matter anymore? Who gives a fuck if this Al generated baby has six fingers, that mom-and-pop shop is still going to use it. That rug from Temu says Happy Thanksgivirg? Oh well haha it's just a silly funny thing now (nevermind that you never would have given a B-grade item from a craft show the same consideration). I don't actually care that the Al Coca-cola ad has a truck that changes size every scene, but I can't help but think about how, if it had been some poor underpaid artist, they would have been laughed out of the building. I don't really know how to put it in a succint way but it just feels all the more obvious how much more grace and flexibility has always been possible but never offered.
i know WHY this is but that just makes it even more of a kick in the pants lmao
Give it a year or two, and we'll have the Big 5 (or an imprint thereof) trying to pass off LLM-generated fiction. I'm dead certain. They're already openly chasing the LitRPG trend.
Everyone seems to think that people simply won't read it and that it won't get popular. But anyone who actually looks at these platforms can see that there are A LOT of people who simply DO NOT CARE that they're reading LLM-generated slop. "If you don't like it, don't read it" has been turned on us.
The worst thing is, everyone you mention this to thinks you're Chicken Little. It doesn't matter that AI slop stories are getting thousands of followers on Royal Road, it doesn't matter they're getting hundreds of reviews on Amazon, it doesn't matter that AO3 and SB let AI-fiction prosper...
I don't like #ai doomposting. It's taking up my work life and my hobby life, but I genuinely believe written fiction faces an existential collapse if the AI bubble doesn't pop imminently. The recent study by Chakrabarty et. al says what I've been saying for months: a lot of people PREFER AI fiction.
Let the games begin!
