The question of which metal brings up some interesting questions. Sure iron has magnetism, but could copper bones experience magnetic braking?
Pass over a strong enough magnet and your bones begin resisting movement. Maybe if you force movement, they generate electricity. (I am butchering science)

Swimming Since all species in Liminal Velocity have metal bones, swimming is usually impossible. Pretzels overcome this weakness with webbing and impressive muscles. A rebreather organ in their snout also helps increase submersion time. Reproduction: Despite having 5 distinct sexes, Pretzels exhibit no physical sexual dimorphism, often leading them to view sex similarly to how humans view blood types. (there's a complicated diagram I'm not going to explain in detail for a while, including x, y, z, xz, and yz) Tail: Pretzel tails are typically stubby and muscular, aiding in swimming, but due to a higher succeptibility for mutation in this anatomy, they occasionally exhimit alternate tail shapes. Other notes: They got no nostrils or sense of smell. Sharp teeth. Black eartips, and webbing between their fingers and toes and under their arms. #furryart #worldbuilding #originalspecies

@liminalvelocity - Tonight I realized the view from the top of my hill looks like the setting I'm developing for Liminal Velocity. The city lights look like planets and you can see extra bright ones along the highway network. I'm on the outside of a sphere looking down on it. #furryart #autobio

Moul (pronounced like "mouth") - Making up for a lack of upper limbs, a moul's entire surface is covered in cilia-like hairs, which allow a moul to grip and freely manipulate objects in contact with its body. (image of one touching a ball and the ball sliding up around their body onto the tip of their raised foot) - This feature is used to hold clothing and camoflage, to scale vertical surfaces, and to passively bring food to their mouths. - Their mouths, located on the upper back, contain a filter material similar to baleen in whales. Mouls primarily consume fungal spores, but are known to catch and eat smaller creatures as well. - Their "ears" are also not ears. Their horns are just covered in fur. Sorry ear-lovers. #furryart #species #openspecies
Moul Species Reference
Pretzel species. Big hands. Webbing between digits and under arms. About 8 feet tall. Big nose.
The very rare ears-up pretzel I habitually draw all ears back by default.

Mirmel was mute before the radio mimic fused with their arm. Now they can talk through it, with this voice:

Prompt: a character named Mirmel A kobold. They are sweet and innocent-looking. #furryart
A kobold. They show they ass. Prompt: there was this dumb photo of a cat
Mirmel bites a radio mimic and it fuses to their arm. Prompt: a mimic fusing with someone
Various mirmel sketches - I drew this character for my October daily art prompts challenge, and then I ran out of energy after day 4.
Say hello to Mirmel:
What a beautiful scene

A scene that's been in my head for a long while.
I've never heard of World Trigger before, but it does look very similar on the surface!
Each sphere has a different highway mimic. Some are different varieties/species with different abilities and temperaments.
So in some places, yeah, you might want to take the Highway fast.
Most of the universe is dark and hostile to life. Spheres are the exception (they're bubbles of safe space) This is where habitable planets can be found. Spheres travel through space on predictable paths. Planets remain stationary relative to their sphere. - Interplanetary travel using Subspace Warp Highways is commonplace. If you don't pay too much attention during the trip, the experience is not much different from traveling down a regular road. - These warp highways are created by a fungal entity known as Highway Mimic. Similar to how classic mimics imitate treasure chests, Highway Mimic imitates Travel. It uses the expectations and memories of travelers to shape the highways features. #worldbuilding #art #scifi
Here are the basics of the Liminal Velocity universe:
"Lets start with planets!" - "Want me to just list the important ones? Or like, what they're made of, or... you do have planets, right?" - The odd figure shows Rau Earth "This is our planet. 196 Million square miles. Over 8 billion inhabitants. - "Oh" #furryart #webcomics #worldbuilding
Rau is momentarily stunned, trying to work out the implications of what she saw - "Oh. Right. Our planets are a lot smaller than yours. Like 4 miles diameter instead of 8,000."
"Huh? Did I do this?" - Rau is holding a small planet in front of her. "This is Velocity. My home planet. Not to scale, obviously." She produces a circular grid with dots connected by lines "This is my sphere. The dots are planets and the lines are Velocity's warp highway network." She then produces a series of rings with those spheres on them "And here's everything. We've mapped four major spheres and a few hundred smaller ones. The space outside spheres is extremely hot and dark, so this is a view you can't get in reality."
Rau Explains Stuff (2/?)
Rau, on a planet's surface, gets distorted and then finds herself in an empty white void, in front of a somewhat ghostly character. #furryart #webcomics
"Don't worry. You're not dead. I'm not a threat. I brought you here to answer questions about your reality."
"The reality I come from is very different from yours. Just give us some insight into how it all works and I'll have you back in the desert before a second of your time passes." - Rau: "Huh I guess if I'm not totally here that explains why I'm sort of pseudo-naked. Alright I'll answer some questions. Where do we begin?"
Lets pluck Rau out of setting for a bit, for questioning.

Couldn't get this out of my head
Rau gives into the urge to grab snake. (Mostly true story) These comics were drawn before Rau joined Liminal Velocity, but the only real hint you'd get to that is the amount of horizon in the distance. #furryart
First comic appearance of Rau. She's sitting on a dock with a salamander in her paw. "Wanna join me as I write my journal for today?" - a friend approached in a canoe and splashes her, so she throws the salamander and it hits his face - crying: "You got my journal wet AND YOU MADE ME THROW MY SALAMANDER!" This is a 100% true story from my life, btw. This comic began as an opportunity for me to revisit (and sometimes alter) memories from years before I began drawing Dogstomp. #furryart
Many of Rau's old comics didn't make the transition to bluesky. Let's change that!
(This one is actually a true story, btw)
Moooood.
Wanna start an indie game studio full of artists who can't decide what to specialize in?
Maybe cooperation would fix me. @_@
