Before our branch, there will be a rally on campus at 12PM, outside the RHB — organised together with the students from the FreeGoldsmiths campaign. It’s crucial we show up against the cuts and in solidarity with the students who have been so supportive of our action!

📅 Wednesday 22 April 2026
📍 1-2PM, in person, room details in email!
🔒 Confidential & open to all staff
5/6 Support doesn't stop when a redundancy meeting ends. We're building networks of care and solidarity that can sustain *all of us* through this action, and we need everyone involved!
4/6 If you haven't (yet) been affected: come and find out how you can support colleagues through the Marking and Assessment Boycott (MAB), other forms of industrial action, casework, or peer-to-peer solidarity.
3/6 If you've been directly affected by the recently announced redundancies: come and get advice and practical support from colleagues who have been through redundancy processes before.
2/6 It's an open, confidential space to share experiences, ask questions, and pool resources. Whatever your situation, there's a place for you in this room.
1/6 Goldsmiths management has announced devastating cuts and redundancies affecting both Professional Services and Academic staff under 'Future Goldsmiths'. We're holding an All-Staff meeting to talk about it — organised by staff, for staff. 🧵
5/We are not taking this action lightly. But to allow management to proceed unchallenged would be to allow the destruction of what remains of this institution. Our branch will also consider indefinite strike action if management moves to punitive pay deductions.
4/In the same period, management spent nearly £15m on private consultants, including £2.6m to KPMG, £350k to Six Ravens, £191k to PwC and £155k to Deloitte. We have repeatedly asked for a full breakdown of the university's financial position. We have not received one.
3/On 25 March, Council voted to approve £20m in staff cuts: £10m from Professional Services and £10m from Academic staffing. This follows two previous restructure programmes that together ought to have "saved" over £23m. None of that has delivered stability.
2/We have been in formal dispute with Goldsmiths management since January 2026. In March, we balloted members for industrial action. On a 63% turnout, 81% voted yes to strike action and 92% voted yes to ASOS including a Marking and Assessment Boycott.
1/On Monday 13 April, our branch voted by an overwhelming majority to initiate a Marking and Assessment Boycott, to begin before the start of the summer term. This is what led us here.

🚨 EMERGENCY BRANCH MEETING
TODAY • 1–2PM • zoom link in email.
David Oswell just announced another wave of redundancies: Professional Services first (Spring 26), academics to follow (Autumn 26).
We won’t be sitting ducks.
More info on the restructure in your inbox.
See you soon!
3/ The timeline is brutal:
📅 Professional Services redundancies announced from April 20th, staff out by end of August 2026.
📅 Academic redundancies from Autumn 2026.
2/ on Thursday, VC David Oswell announced ‘Future Goldsmiths’ via email and at a Campus Connect that was nothing short of a sham. No accountability. No transparency. Just: cuts are coming.
Come around to campus connect today to ask David Oswell what “agile staffing base” means to him — and stay for the in-person debrief at 3.30pm. ALL STAFF WELCOME! Links and room deets in our latest 📧!
A hand adorned with a gold ring and henna patterns posts a white envelope addressed to “Civica Election Services, London, N81 1ER” into a red British Royal Mail pillar box. The collection plate shows “THU” and lists last collection times of 9.00am Monday to Friday and 7.00am Saturday.
5/5 We are, at best, collateral damage to them. They don’t think twice about taking away our careers, our livelihoods, everything we’ve built. But WE make this institution run. Nothing happens without us. It’s on us to make sure they remember that — with our voices and our ballot!
4/5 For Council members, this is just another “voluntary” role to pad their CVs on the way to a fancier gig (or the Lords’, as it was for Dinah Caine).
3/5 For the folks on the Executive Board, every restructure is a chance to show future employers just how ruthless they can be with workers, before moving on to shrink the next institution to the “shape and size” the current UK ruling class thinks arts & humanities deserves, i.e. none.
2/5 It’s vital that our Members show up to confront the Executive Board and Council. They MUST be held accountable for their abysmal decision-making and all the damage it has done to this university. Remember to book your spot (link in our latest 📧)
Bold yellow text on a grainy black-and-white protest banner background reads: “Job cuts for this academic year are likely to be announced at today’s Campus Connect! Thursday 26 March at 2.30–3.30pm in PSH LG02. (book your spot via the link in our Friday email)” The background banner partially shows the words “Against the [session/session?] — cancellation of our future.“
1/5 Yesterday Council met to vote on plans for cuts (=redundancies) for this academic year. Today, Thursday 26 March at 2.30-3.30pm in PSH LG02, there will be another Campus Connect event where, we are told, an announcement will be made - though it is def not past our “leadership” to lie about it.
