For the most part, we are in the year of Philly being it's own version of Playoff P.

The Phillies have recently welcomed Nick Nurse and Sixers mascot Franklin. Coincidence?

For a moment it seemed like this would be the payback season where Embiid was the healthy one and all the other teams were hamstrung by injured stars. Alas #SameAsItEverWas

Will this lead to losing more voters who stay home when the candidates running in a 2 party system fails their litmus test? It's a real Achilles Heel. No true coalitions, just 2 candidates you don't like. Add in American "individualism" blocking willingness to show up and vote for a less bad choice.

Should we be there at 1:15 or arrive a bit late?

Definitely did not want to lose to Orlando

Sixers didn't trade for Ayo (or Coby White) because they know their owner won't spend above the tax to keep either of them this summer.

Ayo probably would have been the better fit.

Assuming this is based on play and not expectations?

Embiid becoming a superstar was 100% player with zero contribution from the team. Sort of a reverse Kawhi.

The team has done the exact wrong combination of coddling him too much early in his career and not surrounding him with the type of vets who can support him... Then for the rest of his career completely mess everything up with how they handle his injuries and dysfunctionally try to build a team.

Part of the issue is with Embiid's mindset, but a lot of that is a result of how the team has handled him over the years.

If a 31 year old Embiid gets distraught if the team drafts a center with a late first, I would think the fault lie with Embiid. It would be totally different than using a lottery pick on a center.

Yep. The rebounding will have to be addressed with better supporting cast- he's just not a defensive anchor anymore.

I still think they win if they run better sets (or any sets?) down the stretch. Embiid iso late to close out games struggled in 2023- no reason to think it's the way to go in 2026.

So that means they at very least if they are in the plan they would only need to win one of two games to make the playoffs

Even if they're lucky enough to get a player about as good as McCain, I'd rather have someone ready to contribute these next couple years.
