Toxic positivity tells us to "just be grateful." But it's okay to be sad about the things you've lost. It's okay to miss your old vision or your old energy levels. Acknowledging that grief doesn't make you ungrateful, it makes you human. Feel it, then let it flow through you.

It's okay to grieve the vision or health you used to have. Feelings don't have an expiration date.
It is so easy to scroll through Instagram and think everyone else is healthy, rich, and happy. But you're seeing their curated best moments. You aren't seeing their bad eye days, their anxiety, or their mess. Stay in your own lane. You're doing just fine.
Comparison is the thief of joy. Don't compare your "behind the scenes" to someone else's "highlight reel."

Who needs fancy camera settings when your eyes do it for you?
Some see the world in HD, I see it in Monet. ๐จ
Depending on the severity of your condition and how quickly it is progressing, you may need different treatments to slow down the disease and improve your vision.
Keratoconus can cause significant distortion of vision, nearsightedness, irregular astigmatism, ghosting with multiple images, glare and light sensitivity.
Keratoconus usually affects both eyes, though it often affects one eye more than the other. It generally begins to affect people between the ages of 10 and 25 and may progress slowly for 10 years or longer.
Keratoconus is a disorder of the eye that results in progressive thinning of the cornea, which is the clear, dome-shaped front surface of your eye. This causes your cornea to bulge outward into a cone shape, which distorts your vision and makes you more sensitive to light and glare.
Here is a helpful vision simulation we made back in 2012. You can share this image with your friends to let them know how #keratoconus affects your vision.
