At first I felt like the final race was surprisingly disjointed and distant, like I couldn’t get a clear idea of the track as we cut back and forth with the audience in different areas. But it beautifully sets up Speed’s flow state in the final lap when he gains clarity and rides the moment

Also wow I remember a lot less about this movie’s finer details than I thought I did. There’s a surprising amount of focus on the backroom dealings and business interests beyond just the exposition. I mean, not the most ever, but the camera lingers and orbits

The Speed Racer movie has editing on a sugar high, but the actors deliver their lines at a comfortable pace. Kinda fascinating in contrast with something like The Force Awakens or Elvis, where it feels like the actors are picking up their feet to keep pace with the camera
