Thanks so much Reid. I've toed into Reddit bit by bit...even found forums about my specific doctor in Cleveland! It's hard to find people dealing with this at my age (back to the original issue that most are diagnosed much younger) but they're out there, and forums get quite specific, helpfully!

I'm having trouble focusing and parenting and I feel depressed and confused about how to move forward in light of things that can't be changed. Anybody gone through something like this? Thoughts, resources?

To be fair, it is a rare condition, but not so rare that not a single medical professional shouldn't have caught or explored it, especially when I related my symptoms. TL;DR, I'm having a hard time reconciling decades of not being heard and the major effects of it that now fall on me.

I didn't realize how much of what I experienced was not normal, b/c I didn't know any different, and b/c many, many times throughout my life, symptoms have been brushed off by doctors.

That in itself is hard, but not actually what I'm struggling with. This should have been caught, diagnosed, and corrected when I was a child, when the surgery would have been much easier and given me a far better quality of life all these years.

I recently received a serious medical diagnosis and now need to make a decision about whether to have major surgery or live with the condition (it's not life-threatening, just poses a pretty serious quality-of-life question that could become worse w/age).

I'm struggling with something and wondering if anyone has gone through something similar. (1/ )
