I get that this is related to demand (the men's final isn't on there for a reason). Still, the Olympics are about bringing out the best in athletics and sexism doesn't fit with that.

Lucky enough to get tickets to #LA28. The price gap between men's and women's Olympic #basketball events is a chasm.

It's not much better for other sports.

Is this #demography erasure?

I'll allow that this may change for statins and some of the safer diabetes medications. But it hasn't yet.

I'm late to the party, but:
Other than exercise, plant-based diets, and social engagement, there aren't individual-level interventions for #longevity with very strong evidence for the moment.

This is as clear a statement as can be written about being Jewish in America right now.

What people don't understand about #Osaka compared to the rest of Japan is that they're much more outgoing and happy to show what proper plumbing looks like in a way that doesn't inconvenience you.

The people criticizing Grumbach don't know how to enjoy some D-in-D.

Difference-in-Difference, obviously.

Sounds like the takeaway from every residency journal club!

ALL drugs are potentially unsafe. A rule of thumb in #geriatrics is that a new patient problem is likely from a new medication. It could be an interaction, it could be issues with drug metabolism. Many problems are better-address without medications at all. Prescribing is key to patient safety.

Gerhard Domagk - Wikipedia

The story of Prontosil (an early antimicrobial) gives some idea: the inventor's daughter accidentally stabbed her arm with a knitting needle and the wound got infected. He was able to get her the drug and she was cured. Otherwise, her arm would have been amputated.

Do we still break out polymyxin B in cases like this? ☹️

Not super relevant, but I'm pretty sure the beat is from "Rapture" by Blondie, where Debbie Harry raps about a man (not twelve) from Mars who goes from eating cars (not flars) to bars to exclusively guitars.
I assume cocaine was involved.

Step 1 boards questions are banned. Turner Syndrome? Complete Androgen Insensitivity? Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia? Can't teach any of that. Don't even mention 5-alpha reductase deficiency, that'll make their heads explode.

I don't know if everything has been linked so clearly, but I think it's a good way to look at it.

Not so random: the idea was to clear senescent cells, which release signals that inhibit regeneration (maybe including synthesis of prostaglandin E2). Senolytics are still a pretty active area of work, just didn't pan out in this case.

Unity Biotechnology fails early test, raising doubts its ability to develop drugs to reverse aging symptoms The failure of a clinical trial by Unity Biotechnology is likely to raise new doubts about its ability to develop drugs to reverse the symptoms and diseases associated with aging.

Millennial geriatrician here. There was a recent drug failure that also regenerated cartilage, targeting an aging mechanism. I hope they found a better target, but for now we'll have keep working out our quads 😕

Let it not be lost on us that the flu season is real, real bad the year that the administration fucked around with the flu vaccine committee and decided not to cooperate with international disease experts. Stark cause and effect, and it's only going to get worse if we let RFK continue his work.

Just a couple shots protect you from having to bury your child.

THIS ISN’T HARD. VACCINATE!

With the changes to the #CDC child vaccine schedule, expect to see more older adults get seriously ill from preventable #flu, #RSV, and #COVID infections. Vaccines for children protect the people who look after them, too.
