When simulation becomes the norm, it weakens the human capacity for discernment. As a result, our social bonds close in upon themselves, forming self-referential circuits that no longer expose us to reality. We thus come to live within bubbles, impermeable to one another. Feeling threatened by anyone who is different, we grow unaccustomed to encounter and dialogue. In this way, polarization, conflict, fear and violence spread. What is at stake is not merely the risk of error, but a transformation in our very relationship with truth.

I feel this. The amount of brown noise and blindfold and blackout shades I have to deploy to have any chance at all of sleeping for more than a handful of hours when I’m running constant sleep debt is getting real aggravating.

Yeah. The call’s been coming from inside the house for forever. Men need to stop leaving the phone off the hook.

NASA and Mamdani are proving that Americans are desperate to see their money spent in ways they feel good about.

This, however, is not the same thing as simply spending the money on things we would feel good about but never know happened. People need to be able to see it.

Germany just activated its largest ever solar installation — one farm, 1.5 million homes, zero carbon. The #CottbusSolarPark covers 3,500 hectares and produces 2.1 tw-hours annually, replacing two coal plants that operated on this same land until 2022. #SolarPower #ActOnClimate #Renewables

We deserve this. For morale.

QUEST COMPLETED!

(Now I just need to read through them.)

If I needed proof there is more real audience here on bsky, as opposed to the Hell Place, it's definitely been in the quick success I've seen in both finding resources & talking about related topics.

Thanks!

It was a delight to be interviewed for this issue, which is chock full of interesting articles and features. Wyrd Science continues to set a high bar for indie journalism in games.

This is the tech and research RFK Jr’s HHS is trying to eliminate. mRNA vaccines have tremendous life-saving potential that’s being squandered.

Don't let anyone stand in your way.
Don't let anyone tell you you're not amazing.
Don't let anyone tell you can't become a powerful witch of the wildlands, the first ghost on the moon, or a tugboat captain with dark secrets and a heart of gold.

Omaha Is Home to a Massive Superfund Site. Most Kids Living There Aren’t Tested for Lead. For more than a century, a smelter and other factories spewed 400 million pounds of lead dust across the city’s east side. Faced with similar concerns, 13 states passed laws requiring all kids to get ...

Many states have passed laws requiring universal lead screening — but not Nebraska.

So in Omaha, where factories deposited 400 million pounds of the toxic metal, most kids haven’t been tested.

Guest columnist Michael Venne: Influential game designers have roots at Hampshire College - Daily Hampshire Gazette With Hampshire College closing, I took a moment to look at the alumni that have gone through the school and I got quite a big surprise. Two, in my eyes, of the most influential tabletop role-play game...

He’s right, Hampshire had a big impact, but perhaps not in the ways he expects. We sure did spend a heck of a lot of our free time playing #ttrpgs

“Work is rework” is not true in EVERY field, but it’s true in a lot of them, esp any that create things.

This is a hard lesson to learn, and is often one of the ways to identify a novice - they think the work is the work.

This is also why novices are easily impressed by bad AI creations.

How fast you will move to the top of my ballot.
If you publicly antagonize AI.

Had a lovely time interviewing the very sharp @olddog.games about his incredible sequel to Blades in the Dark for @springmagca.bsky.social. Blades ‘68 is both radical and extremely rad—it’s just what a work of art should be.

Dear BlindLady is the natural successor to Being Seen. So you believe in ableism and now you see how fucked we are?

There’s a handbook for that!

Here are two things that are true.

If @deadlyfredly.bsky.social is making a Miro for an RPG, it is going to be an overproduced marvel.

If I am *playing* in a game with a Miro, the one thing you can be confident I will do is drop all manner of random additions to that miro.

"Oh," I said.
"@rdonoghue.bsky.social and @deadlyfredly.bsky.social want to play Mothership," I said.
"Sure, I will play Mothership again."

Did I nearly get digested by the mining outpost's living compost system? Of course I did.
