"They're all so sorry this happened to me. And while I appreciate the sentiment, I resent it. I don't want to be an object of pity. I've been an author for fifteen years, I want it to feel like less of a struggle. And I want things to change" Will Kostakis on point here 🔥

I’m finally back online. Work sent out emails recommending people who’re impacted work from the office 🙄

How helpful when we can’t see any comms.

And I can’t hotspot because my mobile coverage keeps dropping out

Love being the only person in my team with Optus.

Put me in a very awkward position of having no idea if I should try to go into the office or not, because I had no idea if work had internet. Meanwhile, work DOES have internet and all my colleagues have been online all day 🫠

our society is becoming incredibly hostile to creative types who are extremely uncomfortable on camera

This is why I appreciate my husband. If I want to go to ikea or the markets or get a coffee and go for a scroll, he’s like “let’s go!”

I used to get the exact sensation of a large, freezing cold drop of water falling on my head and running through mg hair when I had endep withdrawals. It was soooo weird.

I had a 6 month nano goal that I utterly failed to make. I’m going to try and get into a habit of staying behind at work once a fortnight to do an hour or so of writing in one of the “quiet rooms”

Also 63 😬

I have to work 2.5 hours this weekend to make up for falling behind.

This week I have a kid psychiatrist appointment and my brother is arriving from Canada so I probably will fall behind again. Plus I desperately need a massage (dr’s orders)

We’ll try it again during the school holidays - I think part of it is that kid and I have very different ideas of how much she needs to drink to be properly hydrated. If we do it on a home day we can monitor how much she’s actually drinking!

Miss 13 has to get an iron infusion for anaemia (she’s so anaemic she keeps losing her balance ☹️)

She was so brave yesterday while the nurse and GP spent 45 minutes trying to find a suitable vein. 6 punctures later and they had to call it quits

Tiana and Sabriel are telling me to stop working and feed them (it’s not even close to their dinner time)

The support teachers will also help her with organisation and planning her assignments etc

The teachers aid will be scheduled on for classes that may be a sensory issue like cooking or textiles

All her teachers will know that she needs written instructions and chunking of tasks etc

They’ll work with her speech therapist and music teachers to fit them into her schedule so she misses as little class as possible (neurotypical kids are expected to just catch up)

There will always be a teachers aid in her core subjects, and

They’ll be introducing her to the teachers, rooms, rules and other kids this term so she’s ready for next year

She’ll be paired up with kids they know she does well with

They’ll play games with her while they talk because I let them know she responds well to that

So in addition to extra time in exams and being allowed to wear her headphones/loops and having fidgets in class, the kids have access to:

A pass that let’s her leave class for a quiet room

She can drop her language elective and use that time for extra study

The two ladies I met are gorgeous and obviously care deeply about the girls they support. They got teary talking about one particular girl’s graduation and how special it was

My expectation around what support my asd/adhd kid would get going into high school was pretty low. I was expecting some box ticking. Boy was I wrong.

Mine is a lot of sweet/tacky k-dramas (me) and violent anime (husband) and generic popular American television (both)
