In this study we show that the toxin malleicyprol, produced by the pathogen Burkholderia pseudomallei, can be enzymatically inactivated via a cyclopropanol ring-opening. This provides new insight into how microbial toxins may be neutralized, opening a potential route for therapeutic intervention.
