this ghost with pockets is enjoying being dead and having pockets

Pixel art of an open chest on a checkboard isometric plane. The chest looks similar to something John Egbert or Spades Slick would have.
You have encountered an eerily familiar chest, in which you may store your arms.
Or your arms. It depends on whether your goal is prop-adjacent sketch comedy or a charcuterie board that's just knives.

Fanart of Flins from Genshin. He's sorta just standing in an abstract blue blue space, holding his spear, shaking his lantern, and staring at the viewer. To me, the noticeable things are that Flins is fairly detailed and there's a strong light coming from behind him with the soft purple light of his lantern shining on his front.
This was linearted before I started focusing more on detail balance, so the background ended up much emptier than what I’d do now. Still wanted to finish it and move on.

Oh whoops I forgot to alt caption this
Fanart bust of Columbina in pixel art. The background is a green-grey gradient, because green compliments the red/blue of her design. I like the green-grey I used because it feels cool and clear even though it looks like it should be swampy
Ever since I learned to tint greys with the color that fulfills color harmony, I love pushing it and seeing how it much affects the vibe

I hope that, in my lifetime, I make one thing as beautiful and perfectly constructed as Gusty Garden from Mario Galaxy.

Full color digital art of Furina from Genshin Impact grandly gesturing towards the camera
I'm not satisfied with this one, so I'm calling it done
Major issues: I inconsistently committed to details. I find it hard to figure out where my eye is supposed to land. I didn't have a color plan.

Pixel art of a mushroom-looking boy with a hoodie on. Vaporized juice extrudes elegantly from his center-face. In the background, there might be some sign with a red X over a mushroom releasing a cloud.
You encounter some kind of mushroom boy who seems to be vaping.
You’re not sure that’s allowed here.
His eyelashes are gigantic.
What do you do?

Pixel art character standing in an isometric world with some rooms and corridors set out and a green wall behind them. clearly looks like just test assets because it is

No time for art because...I'm head first in dissertation writing >__<
And I'm pivoting my art style to something less detailed because spending months on one artwork isn't what I want to do
Semi-finished art of Columbina gliding downward while gesturing
Much more sketchy columbina fanart of her looking askance and gesturing toward the camera
Good luck on your pulls for her, everyone!
My unfinished art doesn't do her justice, but I still hope she comes home >__<;
Gamedev secret about being an idiot: it's okay if your code sucks because you can replace it later and laugh at yourself.
Sketch fanart of Columbina from Genshin, looking piecefully and gesturing to the camera
You know you're improving as an artist when you start drawing earlier than...the day before the banner drops😇
(rip Flins art)
to-do list that just says "reflect" and underneath says "I still think that..." and has nothing else
god dammit vinbert you can't just drop shit like this in your notes

Cartoon style drawing of a girl tilting her head and looking skeptically above the viewer
#drawing whatever came to mind
Her hair is a jumbled mess because I was inspired to draw after seeing a Cammy White sketch on pinterest. And then my friend sent me yugioh memes. And then I was thinking about Layla from Genshin
rip her ears, idk where they went
art is hard😞
Four head practices again. Top left: kind of a silly dumb face. Top right: Masculine intense angry scream, lit from below. Bottom left: Scrunchy skeptical face, thick nec. Bottom right: very evil sharp grin, and also on a tiny little body for kicks
Loosening up, something inside of me is melting
which honestly is my 2026 goal

Rougher sketch of Furina from Genshin gesturing grandly at the camera
More fully rendered and fixed painting of Furina from Genshin
Went from sketch (⬅️) to half-rendered (➡️) in the past few hours, I'm tired
I should focus on fixing up the hair and calling it a day

I just wanna draw faster and better and aaaaaa
I...am gently reminding myself that I don't suck at art just because I have a lot more to learn. 😂
He draws one big chunk of color, then on one side the necessary shadow, and on the other side the necessary light, and that's it. Very efficient.
There's definitely an overall attitude to the approach that he is doing that I'm not doing.
I notice that I draw a LOT of shapes when constructing forms. Like, 20+ spheres/cylinders/etc. He didn't do any of that. I think I spend too much time on art because I'm doing shape exercises when I draw.
4. He spends almost the entire painting time drawing the face, and almost the entire time on the face drawing small, important things that affect the expression.
3. The face can be one flat color but a little blush also makes it look like it has a lot of variation. I've been using gradients to try to introduce color variation but it's always a hassle.
1. The entire face is in mid to high tones, low saturation, giving it a very strong and subdued feel.
2. The forms are conveyed by the small important shadows. The smallest air brush on one side gives depth. For my art, I always assume a shadow has to take up as much space on the canvas as light.
Me recreating the face part of an art piece by Marc brunet, from one of his youtube videos. Girl looking slightly indignant and slightly rolling her eyes at the camera.
I did an art process study by following a video by Marc Brunet (bluefley). I really love the expression he painted and I wanted to try to see what I could learn. Thoughts below.

Sketchy drawing of what seems to be an anime women wearing a red dress with long sleeves coming out of a rolling tide of dust and cresting like a flying fish
I was inspired by __lu.e3 to draw something way more fluid and intuitive. I've mostly treated drawing like deconstructing industrial art process. so this was very different.
...I mean, I'M not happy with it, but the point was to let go, so, you know, mission accomplished.

Same. I think everyone deserves that option.
I tried painting the lights-to-shadows turning the other way on the color wheel. Mostly failed.
But the warm/cool range shifted from orange-blue to yellow-indigo. idk how to make sense of that

I've played around with generating assets as well, though I gave up cuz the output was sucked and the stealing was palpable.
But I use AI to help with code, every programmer I know does. In some cases, AI is integrated into autocomplete in IDEs and you can't turn it off.
