A song I would have put on repeat for hours during my latest 100 miler: Pts.Of.Athrty Linkin Park/Crystal Method remix.

Just ticks so many boxes to be alone at night with nothing but the trail in front of you to focus on.

8th hundred miler finished yesterday. There is a good story about the last lap. Too much for a post but maybe I’ll write a blog post elsewhere.

Practically grapes.

Well, that’s all for the big stuff. It’s almost unreal how a 15 mile run today just feel easy even slightly tired from 22 trail miles yesterday.

I’ve worn mine for a few of 100 milers. My biggest grumble is my lack of ability to put things in the tunnel area on the move. I can’t easily separate the fabric for the bin and the top of the vest. I’ve thought I put a jacket or empty flask in the tunnel only to have it drop on the ground.

My daughter and I dug into what it means and doesn’t mean when businesses slap AI on their products.

Then the merits of David Goggins vs Nelson Mandela.

Such solid conversation around the fire.

Sometimes I get it right.

Semi self supported 50k done. Family came in clutch when I let them know I was going to be longer than expected since I ran out of water. They dropped some off to me. 10/10.

That’s pretty much all information security and information technology is.

We celebrate it now but the U.S. has a history of calling Irish immigrants dirty, criminals, and whatnot. This included my own family. Similar to how Haitians, Somali, and others are treated now.

Will it end? I can’t say as those in control of the decisions aren’t the ones with their lives on the line.

Written in 1935, General Butler makes note of the world heading into what would be World War II. The world continues down the same path over and over. Duty and patriotism are used as sirens to call humans to don uniforms for their country. They will never see the profits of war, just the price.

This quick read includes General Bulter’s book/speech on what he learned first hand on who pays and who profits in war. It’s quite simple, military members pay the highest cost. Their loved one’s close behind. The government and corporations are the ones who line their pockets.

I’d imagine that MCRD continues to hammer home the Marine Corps history. One notable example: Marines that were awarded the Medal of Honor twice. One of them was General Smedley Bulter.
