Incredibly sad that an institution like the BBC could make a freelance contributor feel like the only options were shut up or leave. I loose more respect for them each day and have the hugest amount of respect for you Robin, this and every day.

Just one more reason to adore Robin Ince. A gentleman who has decided that allyship is more important than career. I've been humming and hawing over buying Ice Cream For A Broken Tooth but will get off the fence this week and support an independent Edinburgh bookshop in the process.

Just wandered past this little bookshop and saw their poster so registered for a ticket then and there. Very glad as I can't make the Typewronger event and missed Ice Cream for a Broken Tooth during the Fringe due to illness. Rather excited now.

Guess what?
The story about the trans M&S employee and the bra fitting is a pack of lies and distortions.

Wooo! Ticket acquired. That's my "at least one live music or live comedy gig a month" resolution sorted for May.

And thanks to the lovely @andrewoneillcomedy.bsky.social for reposting as somehow I'd failed to follow you on here & I might have missed this news (an oversight which I've now rectified)

Am off to Glasgow to (finally) see Stephen Carlin (missed his show at Edinburgh Fringe when I hurt my foot) and unlikely to be home by 8:30 but so long as you don't mind me turning up late (around 9pm) I'll grab a ticket.

Nope not possible.

That many years have not passed since then. I'll accept half that time.

Urge Scottish Borders Council to Retain Core Funding for Eastgate Theatre Can you spare a minute to help this campaign?

The Eastgate Theatre in Peebles is facing the loss of its core funding from the council. Could you spare a moment to sign this petition to ask the council to reconsider this plan?

If Andrew is doing a show near you this month please go see them as they are excellent and (be honest) you probably need a good old laugh don't you?

A cathartic show about fixing the world through a combination of direct action (rational) and ritual (irrational).

Oooh! Had forgotten I'd seen your show was on sale. Am all set now.
Getting booked up to fulfill my new year resolution of one live comedy or live music show a month makes me very happy.

Ahhh. I love that my Uncle John is an influence for you. I never knew him well as we lived in Scotland and he was in Somerset so only saw him a few times over the years. Sadly didn't see him during his final visit to Glasgow in August 1995.

Already have a ticket for a comedy show in April and tickets for music gigs for May and September so am sticking with this resolution again for 2025.

October was the long awaited Cats in Space gig in Bathgate.
November was a delightful trip to see Robin Ince and Josie Long at The Stand in Edinburgh.
December was more comedy Liam Withnail at Monkey Barrel.

August is not a problem with the Fringe but it was a much reduced version for me in 2024 as I only made it out for 28 shows thanks to a brain that wouldn't engage with planning in the early part of the month & a foot injury.
September was Andrew O'Neill's excellent Geburrah at The Stand Edinburgh.

June was a mix of comedy and music with Monkey Barrel Comedy's Sunday Big Show (ft. Jin Hao Li), Bon Jovi Forever (tribute band) in Livingston and Lachlan Werner at The Stand in Glasgow.
July was music and comedy with Frank Turner in Glasgow, and my first Fringe show of 2024 on July 31st.
