The end of Douglas Crimp’s essay in the ‘Pictures’ catalogue. The last line reads: In this, the work of these artists maintains an allegiance to that radical aspiration that we continue to recognize as modernist.
I’d forgotten that the last line of Crimp’s essay confirms the artists as modernists, given how important the exhibition now is in the history of postmodernism and visual art.
Nextstar made the decision to take sides. Which tells you all you need to know. Nothing was gained by their actions.
