I am looking forward to be that person for any young friend I make, if I am not already there

Having had these sorts of relationships with adults so early on in my adolescence helped in removing that fear of growing up and aging (see: my graphic novel Seance Tea Party). Even as one of the grown-ups I still benefit from those interactions

As I get older I really appreciate more and more having peers/friends in comics and life who are several life stages ahead of me. It’s affirming to see adult anxieties and visibly witness that a life in middle/old age can still be dynamic and worth striving for

🌹 TCM Webcomic Rerun | Update: thecarpetmerchant.reimenayee.com/comic/tcm10v...
Zeynel learns about and gets more involved in a life of carpet weaving, leading to the realisation of his true calling.

I noted at one point that the reason why you're sort of having to deal with people with names like Katie Tightpussy or nerdjpg with a kirby avatar or whoever being effective subject matter experts on stuff is that you have institutional breakdown which forced a bunch of posters to do it ourselves.

What I disagree with there--and what I dislike--is that there is this implication there is a "manga style."

Japan has thousands of working comic artists. Even more in their vast history. Each has individual styles often vastly different from each other.

Here are four manga artists. Four styles.

They didnt send you a copy??? Let me know which one it was so I can send it to you when I can

Thank you to everyone who has bought/downloaded a copy!! I really appreciate the support since TCM is out of print and its previous publisher bailed me on the royalties they owe before their dissolution. Hopefully one day TCM will find a better fate!! πŸ™

Also if you're a comics creator, be sure to check out @cartoonist.coop . They are doing incredible stuff fighting to improve and protect worker rights in the comics industry. They also provide a lot of opportunities and resources for indie creators!

The thing that makes me most angry about what's happened to webcomics is how the scene has been imitating the shitty industry more each year:
companies are taking advantage of artists, grinding them up, and leaving them to dry after they get their use outta them.
Webcomics should stay indie.

Sure, go ahead! Though I'd say I won't be able to read it till I finish a substantial part of my own writing on Alexander. Am put on a moratorium for contemporary Alex fictions. But I am interested regardless!

Haha thank you!! I really enjoyed your poem too. His blood IS made out of ink. That's why he's such a fascinating literary/historical figure to explore.

Becoming a Death Doula for the Alexander Romance. May 11, 2026. 12 PM GMT 0. An online conversation with me and Dr Leslie Wong.

The illustration features only my hands, posed as if I am aggressively grabbing and holding Alexander the Great down by the face while I draw directly on his face (his blue eye specifically). This drawing of him is framed by printer marks and overlaid by a drawing grid.

I'll be talking about my motivation and approach to creating the 21st century edition of the Alexander Romance - mainly my position as the death doula for Alexander the Great's restless wandering spirit. And my position as a Southeast Asian / Australian artist in deconstructing imperial legacy
