If someone has good support and understand their different way of learning, sensory etc and learn work around then a dx is not necessary. Meds aren’t the be all. there is research to show ADHD/inattentive type don’t respond to meds. So tot agree if someone can get by without meds that’s good.

And the people that don’t get help especially the hyperactive type will seek anything to help them curb the incessant need to move/act out/stop the constant thoughts. Make sense of why they can’t grasp what others can. Seek anything to help with sensory overload/under load . Trajectory? Prison.
