Beartown by Fredrik Backman – Book Review Beartown is not the sport story you think it is. Fredrik Backman delivers something much heavier a story —about community, loyalty, and what happens when a town protects the wrong person.

Beartown is not the sports story you think it is. It's about what happens when a community protect the wrong person. Uncomfortable, powerful, and way to real. Four stars.

Animal Farm by George Orwell – Book Review George Orwell wrote Animal Farm as a warning in 1945. The depressing part is how little has changed. A first time reader reckons with why this 80 year old fable still feels like today's news.

Just finished Animal Farm for the first time. Written in 1945. Feels like it was written yesterday. That's the problem. Everyone should read this. Especially right now.

My Best Friend’s Exorcism by Grady Hendrix – Book Review A 4-star review of My Best Friend’s Exorcism by Grady Hendrix. A nostalgic 80s horror story with humor, heart, and deeply unsettling moments.

80s nostalgia, real friendship, and horror that gets under your skin instead of jumping at you.
Creepy, funny, and surprisingly emotional.

After the Fall by Edward Ashton – Audiobook Review I finished After the Fall feeling satisfied… but also a little greedy. I wanted more time in this world, more story to sink into. That’s usually a good sign.

Classic sci-fi tension with unexpected warmth and humor.
Tight storytelling, strong character work, and a world I wanted more time in.

The Last Time I Lied by Riley Sager – Book Review Riley Sager's The Last Time I Lied offers a gripping, nostalgic thriller with compelling characters, a well-crafted plot, and a satisfying ending.

A summer camp thriller that kept me hooked from start to finish. Nostalgic, tense, and deeply satisfying. Riley Sager continues to deliver.

🕯️ The Thursday Lantern — The Union of Waiting A quiet reflection on the unseen labor, patience, and the strange truth that some things only happen when no one is watching. A whimsical meditation on waiting, work, and the invisible forces that keep the ordinary world moving.

Turns out water won’t boil while you’re watching because the magic workers don’t perform under supervision.
A lighter Thursday Lantern—cozy fantasy, blue-collar magic, and everyday truths.

Born a Crime by Trevor Noah – Audiobook Review Trevor Noah's "Born a Crime" is an engaging memoir that recounts his upbringing in apartheid-era South Africa. Through a conversational tone, Noah shares humorous yet educational stories about his childhood, emphasizing lived experiences over celebrity anecdotes. His narration enhances the experience, making the audiobook a definitive format for this insightful and entertaining work.

Funny, thoughtful, and quietly powerful.

🕯️ The Thursday Lantern — Brainstorm I make the storm on purpose. I don’t wait for it. I shut the door in my head And let the pressure climb Until the air starts to move On its own

Inspiration isn’t always gentle. Sometimes it’s pressure, motion, and letting your own thoughts get loud enough to collide.

This Inevitable Ruin (Dungeon Crawler Carl #7) – Book Review At book seven, most series are running out of gas. Dungeon Crawler Carl is not that series. This Inevitable Ruin keeps the same wild energy the series is known for and pushes the story forward in a real way. The stakes are bigger. The world feels wider. And you can sense that some very large gears are turning behind the scenes.

Dungeon Crawler Carl refuses to slow down. Book 7 was pure chaotic fun, with the story finally stepping into bigger territory. Possibly my favorite of the series so far.

🕯️ The Thursday Lantern — Every Day, Another Lie Every day brings a new atrocity—and a new justification. A poem about noise, lies, and refusing to mistake exhaustion for consent.

Every day it’s some new atrocity.
And every day, another lie.

This week’s Lantern is about loud justifications, manufactured outrage, and refusing to mistake exhaustion for consent.

Mistborn:Secret History by Brandon Sanderson – Book Review Mistborn: Secret History enriches the original story with fresh perspectives, deepening understanding while hinting at a larger universe, making it a rewarding companion piece.

Secret History isn’t a retelling—it’s a quiet reframing. A thoughtful companion piece that adds depth, raises questions, and hints at something much bigger moving in the background.

🕯️ The Thursday Lantern — When the World Goes Dark Things feel bleak and biblical lately—politics, hate, the world unraveling. Not a sermon, but a whisper of survival: not yet, not like this.

The world feels darker than it should be.
But darkness isn't victory.
Not yet.

There Be Dragons Here – Book Review There Be Dragons Here is one of those books that puts a smile on your face almost immediately and refuses to let it slip. It’s light and whimsical in all the best ways, but it never feels shallow or throwaway. There’s a gentle thoughtfulness beneath the humor and magic, and that balance makes the story feel bigger than its page count.

A cozy fantasy that made me smile the whole way through. Heartwarming, whimsical, and quietly magical.
