34 of those 194 were called back, along with 4 others who were invited directly to callbacks.
4 roles were pre-cast, so we were only looking for 7 actors in total.
Casting is a wild, weird process. We saw such beautiful work. I want to work with so many more people than I have roles for.

After canceling in-person auditions for HAMLET due to the blizzard, we rescheduled them for AEA members and had non-union actors submit videos.
In the end, we watched 178 video auditions and 16 in-person. 194 in total! That number keeps growing every year, which is exciting (and hard).
I think it’s when connecting units are bought to create a new, larger unit. I knew people who bought the two condos beneath theirs to connect them all into one large unit within the building.
I mean… sure, mayor is chief spokesperson, but they’re also supposed to be chief executive.
The turkeys are out this morning, and a school bus driver pulled over for a moment so the kids could get a good look. Nice work, bringing a bit of whimsy to the morning school commute.
Later a bike guy at a neighbor’s party got super excited that I had the Vado - he thought it was the best on the market, which was super affirming. At that point I knew I loved it, but was glad to get that thumbs up. Plus I’m a sucker for a good accessory and the panniers are great.
I bought it without a lot of research (we were down to one car, thought an e-bike instead of a cheap used car for the interim). I had a discount at Hoigaard’s and bought what they had in stock. That first one was stolen, and I bought the replacement at Erik’s and have gone there for maintenance.
I have a Specialized Vado and love it. I commute and do farmer’s market runs with it - it has great accessories. Bought it at Erik’s.
I did not finish my taxes, but I did go back over the theater company’s draft bylaws that are holding up our incorporation. I think I’m finally at a point to reach out to one of the bylaws nerds in my life for their takes on a few questions, and then send them to LegalCORPS for review.
I took a brownie break (leftover from a dinner party last week - they last beautifully), and now I’m productive procrastinating looking at Creative Activities baking categories.
Highly recommend having some Saturday Dumpling Co frozen dumplings on hand, plus their sauce in your fridge. Paired with some veggies it's an amazing lunch that helps you face slightly onerous tasks. Had it yesterday to fortify myself for the SD63 convention, and again today for doing my taxes.
Once upon a time on OKCupid I wrote that I like almost all food, “Except bananas. They ruin everything.” Meant as a humorous aside, many men took it as an invite to tell me I was wrong. Turned into the best screener.
Bananas ruin everything*.
Moosewood’s banana bread where they’re soaked in coffee and paired with chocolate chips is an exception.
My mother’s sisters are my aunts, but my grandmother’s sisters are my aunties, and then there are the lesbian aunties I gained after my mother came out. They’re amazing. My gaggle of Subarus.
It is such a challenge to narrow down our list to actors we know and love or are curious to see more of their work who *also* could be cast in this production for callbacks. There are so many people I want to work with! I have about 8 spots.
We had multiple submissions with this sort of Gen Z snarky take on Viola’s ring speech that just, to me, misses the whole, earnest point of that speech, in addition to the undercurrent of danger in Viola pretending to be Cesario.
Hey that’s me! 👋
This is my cousin Andy! He's an amazing artist.
Oh my!! My 7th-grade science teacher was scandalized that I was reading it.
I know what you mean about skipping past things - I read Tales of the City at about the same time and totally missed the storyline my mom was most concerned about.

Also please stop saying you’re unable to attend in person when it’s that you live out of state.
I am sorting out our inbox full of audition submissions. There are hundreds of people submitting. Please, attach your resume and headshot. Please don’t insert the picture into the body of the email. Or link to a Dropbox or Google folder. Save me clicks. Please?
A one-eyed black cat climbs a window screen because he’s bored and/or wants attention and refuses to simply jump up on the couch for snuggles. After this was taken and he was picked up, he purred up a storm while snuggling into my neck.
His brother interrupted.
I have a slightly snoring orange cat curled on my lap. All plans for the day are on hold.
The last year+ has been an exploration of all the other places I can go vs Target. I went a few weeks ago to use up some lingering gift cards and was surprised by how bored and removed I felt in a store I used to wander for fun.
I have a fire hydrant and storm sewer, too! So much civic responsibility.
Snow on a sidewalk with a measuring tape in front of it. The snow depth is 8”.
Corner lots are great. Cannot recommend a corner lot more.
For context, last year we had 65 people in person and 90 videos in total.
Exciting potential turnout! And 🫠.
Just reviewed the list post cancellation announcement: 73 scheduled, 62 still on the waitlist. I hope every one of them submits a video and yet I’ve already watched 90 today, with another 26 filed to watch, with another day before the submission window closes. 🫠
