It's Groundhog Day today. I looked, in anticipation, and Sky Cinema has not let me down!

Sign stating that 1-10 people on a bridge is fine but more than that would cause the bridge to collapse.

This seems straight forward but what if 3 people from your group of 11 are children? What if you have 8 people but 2 of them are obsese? What if 10 people are happily crossing and then a chonky bird lands on the bridge? These are important questions.

I enjoyed #Frankenstein. The cast do a great job and if there's one thing you can guarantee it's that a del Toro film will look gorgeous. My only real complaint is that I thought it a touch too long and I found it dragged a little in the final third. That said, it's a solid 4 stars out of 5 for me.

This evening's Halloween season film is Tucker and Dale vs Evil on blu-ray. Bring back animated disc menus. I love this!

It's horror movie number 46 of the month:

4K double dip. I've owned the Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, The World's End cornetto trilogy pack since it was released. I needed to grab the 20th anniversary edition (remastered and now inc. Dolby Vision and Atmos). Can we have the same treatment for the other two please, @edgarwright.bsky.social

Midway through Halloween month and it's time for one of my favourite horror movies: Scream. This is film number 20 for me, comprising a good mix of first time watches (some good, some bad) and old favourites.

It's a Friday night in 1980. Which film would you go and see? Airplane for me.

I've just been to see One Battle After Another and it's the best film I've seen so far this year (and the first five star rating for me). It'll do extremely well come awards season. Also, shout out to Sean Penn for employing the silliest walk since the days of Monty Python.

It's Sigourney Weaver's 76th birthday today so, for no particular reason, here are my top five favourite films of hers:
1. Alien
2. Aliens
3. Ghostbusters
4. Cabin in the Woods
5. Galaxy Quest

It was my birthday yesterday and I'm looking forward to heading to the coast for a long weekend tomorrow but, more importantly, who doesn't love a card that plays a David Bowie disco?!

I'm watching Battle of Britain with subtitles on for the German speaking parts and I'm not sure what I'd do without this crucial information.

That's two horror films in two nights for me: Weapons last night and Together tonight. I really enjoyed both of them. The genre seems to be in a good place at present and it's been refreshing to watch a couple of original films where I couldn't spot the usual formulaic patterns.

This week's Alien: Earth is quite something, evoking memories of the chaos and carnage from the first two films. Outstanding stuff!

King James I imprisoned people there in the fifteenth century. It's now home to the world's largest colony of northern gannets with a population of over 150,000 in peak season.

Here's a picture I recently took of the distinctive Bass Rock, situated a mile off the coast of Scotland. It's uninhabited now but the remains of a chapel reside on the island, as does the lighthouse (which was constructed in 1902).
