24. Mated to the Alien (Books 1-3) by Kate Rudolph: these were...fine. quick reads, but the plots were nonsensical and the characters, while nice, were not particularly distinct or memorable. but sometimes you want to read about soulmates kissing, and in that respect, this delivered!

Infowars/Onion combo logo in rainbow saying “I support the onion’s hostile media takeover.”
It’s finally happened. After 18 months. Finally, a media merger you can root for.
23. Bound to the Marak by Callia Silver: a very quick read, but the trade-off for that is not getting much in the way of character or relationship development. cleanly written, and the hints we got of the alien culture were very nice, but overall? I wish I had any idea WHO this book was about
'We Palestinians Are Not Going Away' is a zine made up of first-person accounts of the war / genocide in Gaza, Palestine.
Download it (it's free), print it and distribute it ✨
Available to download from the Little Zine Revolution site: lzr.life/zine/we-pale...
22. The Siege of Burning Grass by Premee Mohammed: the prose in this book. the PROSE. there's a lot going on, and I do think the protag's motives/choices are a bit opaque in ways that could have been tightened up a bit, but it's a provoking read -- is EVERYONE truly guilty in war?
also: bugs!!
hand spinning update: tried my hand at spinning cotton last night on my wheel, immediately hit a wall (because cotton is TOUGH to spin on a wheel, and just hard to spin in general), then begged my instructor to let me book private hand spinning lessons this summer because I WILL get the hang of it
incredible news: the farm at the university where I work has just welcomed ten (!!!!) new piglets, from a mom named Hammah Montana
LA! These kitties’ human passed away, and they need a new home! Please help them find one! Spread the word!
it's so odd what pops up in dreams! I have had MULTIPLE dreams about Kaidan from Mass Effect (my least favorite character in the whole trilogy), because what are brains!
I also had to look up silvergifting, haha
it's happening, as we all knew it would: I am looking up weaving classes to take this summer

a just and loving god would have let Hilary Mantel live to hear “the pope is weak on crime”
21. Emily Wilde's Compendium of Lost Tales by Heather Fawcett: charming and sweet, but while I know this is cozy fantasy, I wish there had been a sense of slightly higher stakes -- especially since this is apparently the end of the trilogy. I lost some momentum on this so it took me FOREVER to read
you love to see it!
I know there are a lot of reasons to be like "nah" when it comes to soulmate tropes, but I was forged in the fires of Elfquest, which explains...well, basically everything about me
(in particular my obsession with white-haired elves; Skywise WAS the blueprint)
Philly area people:
The CHOP garage collapse in Grays Ferry has (probably) killed 3 people, and all the animals at the Grays Ferry Philly Paws location have been evacuated.
They desperately need cat foster homes until the shelter can reopen. Please help if you can!

You have to survive. There are graves to piss on that haven't been dug yet.
sometimes the plastic shoes/bag/whatever is all you've got to use; we all are doing the best we can in this capitalist hellscape and so I don't judge ANYONE for that
it's the "oh I use vegan leather because I LOVE animals more than you, a wool-loving person, do" that sends me right off the plot
raising sheep on an industrial level for wool or for meat has its issues, as does EVERY industry, but sheep don't even really interfere with farming! they can be pastured on land that ISN'T great for farming, you can use their manure for fertilizer, etc.
your plastic shoes? choking the planet
I have, on occasion, run into people who thought that using wool meant killing the sheep, and I'm always happy to correct that assumption! but if you're going for sustainability, "we give these animals a haircut once a year and get several pounds of a renewable resource each time" is hard to beat
for me the issue isn't as much about the USE of "vegan leather" and similar products (even though I detest them and avoid them at all costs) as it is about the hypocrisy; yeah sure shit on me for using wool because it's supposedly "bad" for the sheep, when you're wearing actual plastic
lrp: the amount of times I've gotten into arguments with vegans/anti-animal products people over my love of wool and my hatred for "vegan leather" would, if I had a dollar for every time it happened, probably have paid off my student loans
STOP CALLING THINGS VEGAN LEATHER ITS FUVKING PLASTIC ITS P L A S T I C
ITS
PLASTIC
it’s fucking plastic
fuck you and your non renewable fast fashion fucking plastic goddamit

His plan: Create music there as a symbolic effort to shield Iran's infrastructure from attack. @iranscreenshot
