I'm mostly speaking out of disappointment like "Oh I liked the rest of the cast and story, but feel like this character and his story - which. is supposed to matter a LOT given how significant it is to the overall plot - is not great! I am sad about that"

I have to reiterate that I am not a Simon hater I just feel like he brings 3 down because he is genuinely the worst part of it and feels like a compilation of ideas rather than a cohesive one.

Alternatively get rid of Simon (please stop booing me I like his tropes too I just have some ideas) and instead have the story narrowed down further

parallel characters and give the betrayal plotline some fun angles to play off of if you have to do that.

Have him actually ride Ratha V and attempt to fight / goad the PC into following him over the find out what happened to Amara, have him try to push them to act and stop avoiding responsibility (and also push the angle of the protagonist being avoidant a lot more to work this), make them proper

And the fix for this is so easy just flesh him out and not have him removed from the story, you can have him be the inciting incident and reason the protagonist leaves to cross the border but like. do it differently

The game only tells us things about Simon but never shows us why they matter, whereas other characters end up with the development and time he also needed to feel fleshed out and relevant. He's almost (almost) as irrelevant as Zellard was in 2 💀 and that feels like a let down

There are other characters you could have fill his role who actually show up and participate and that's kind of my beef - I like the *idea* behind him, but hate the final product.

My takeaway from Stories 3 is that Simon's whole.
