Amid the turmoil in #Yemen and the political purge of the STC, a new Prime Minister, Shaya Al-Zindani, was appointed and is now tasked with forming a new government. Spoke to @rfi.fr on government consolidating power and lingering southern demands. www.rfi.fr/fr/moyen-ori...
Been on the road for a while, but facilitating @eurpeace.bsky.social meetings with representatives of the Yemen government and the Southern Transitional Council this last week in Nairobi were exceptionally rewarding.

At least 50 people were injured in the latest Houthi drone attack in Eilat. While implications of exceedingly sophisticated Houthi tech are severe, I can't help but think of non-Houthis now holding breath in #Yemen for inevitable and harsh retaliation. www.trtworld.com/article/6fd4...

The greatest story ever told. Happy 4th of July.
In March, our Senior Advisor @omeisy shared insights on our work on environmental peacemaking in Yemen at the online event “Working in and on conflict: how climate and humanitarian action can support peace”, organised by adelphi and United Nations System Staff College: www.unssc.org/news-and-ins...
An engaging discussion @sipri on pathways out of the unfolding catastrophe. Ending the violence against civilians and meeting urgent needs are priorities; this requires more responsible international engagement, and more coherent & supported mediation to define a political roadmap.

Noraly (Itchy Boots) Schoenmaker is visiting #Yemen and traveling across regions showing the breathtaking beauty of its landscapes, rich history, and generous people. There's so much to this country beyond what you see in the headlines. youtu.be/GR58GUq31Yg?...
Akram Al-Akhali, kidnapped and disappeared by Houthis for close to 10 months, has been released. Thanks to unrelenting efforts and Dutch diplomacy, he has safely arrived in Oman. UN and U.S. Embassy #Yemen colleagues are still in Houthi dungeons and their health is deteriorating.
The European Institute of Peace responds to conflict risks posed by environmental challenges by opening new avenues for dialogue, building trust, and providing policy advice. Read more about our work on environmental challenges in the Horn of Africa:

Today is the International Day of Solidarity with Detained and Missing Staff Members. My friends and colleagues who worked for the U.S. State Department, the UN, and civil society organizations are still disappeared in Houthi prisons. Some have died, others are in a really bad shape. #SOS #Yemen
Main goal is to end Houthi attacks on ships in the Red Sea, but at very least, put a dent on Houthi operations
Talking to Sally on ABC Radio National Breakfast, I explained impact of airstrikes on Houthi ops, Iran's increased support, Houthi weaponizing of grievances, their local and regional ambitions, and need for holistic approach in #Yemen www.abc.net.au/listen/progr...
Multiple waves of U.S. airstrikes targeting Houthis across several governorates in #Yemen. These are different in terms of scale, intensity and reach than ones last year.
Just spoke to BBC News on the airstrikes targeted Houthis in #Yemen and want to reiterate that Houthis have own goals that go beyond Yemen's borders and we will likely see further escalation as they grandstand and dig heels into reckless adventurism.

Hello new followers. I'm Nick. I post a lot about Yemen, the Middle East, Appalachia, Stardew Valley, rivers, and other stuff
Anyway, I'm trying to get a project looking at the history of people and water called @waterways-project.bsky.social off the ground, so check it out if that's your thing
"WFP employee Ahmed Ba‘Alawi, detained by Houthis, has died.." No, NO. He was kidnapped, disappeared, likely tortured, and was MURDERED. And so will tens of other colleagues while you use this ridiculously soft language that only further emboldens Houthi impunity and barbarism. #Yemen
More people were kidnapped by the Houthis, not just UN staff. Hostage taking and forcible disappearance is their go-to strategy to terrorize, punish, use as leverage, extract concessions and false confessions, and silence dissent. My 2 cents to DW. #Yemen
