More importantly, I have realized that American Girl needs to publish The Care and Keeping of You 3: The Body Book for Older Older Girls to support their readers from the 1990s heading into perimenopause.

Delighted to share new research at @mvsa.bsky.social conf this weekend. My first draft of a database about wellness in correspondence columns in 19c girls’ magazines is cool, but what really excites the conference crowd (of gals of a certain age) are YM, Seventeen, and American Girl advice books.
Job Post: my new uni is hiring a Teaching & Learning Librarian, which will partner with us in the Center for Digital Humanities Research. In my 1st semester, we've already cohosted some great programs with this team. And it's in the Philly area, which we've found to be a great place to work & live.

Just ended our last Skype-based Periodical Poetry Index call. Since we started in June 2010, we've had 390 three-way audio calls on Skype. Goodbye, old frenemy, and no, I do not want to install your updates. Catch you on zoom next week, @nmhouston.bsky.social & @lmltelegraph.bsky.social!
I’m more on the literature side, but I’ve been working on breast cancer in the long 19c for ~15yrs. My 2023 book (Women’s Health in Britain & America: Texts & Contexts) has a chapter on breast and gynecological cancers.
Immediately adding this to the first unit in my medical humanities course this semester…
My 7yo is obsessed with a novelty phrenology head I brought her from @bethlemmuseum.bsky.social and took it for show&tell today. It was that or a stuffed uterus+ovaries from @oldoptheatre.bsky.social, which her 2nd grade friends aren't ready for. Apple doesn't fall far, etc. #medhist #medhum
Kicking off FDU's first medical humanities study abroad trip today. Lectures & walking tours + visiting @oldoptheatre.bsky.social, Anaesthesia Heritage Center, @bethlemmuseum.bsky.social, Royal Pharmaceutical Society, @wellcomecollection.bsky.social, Florence Nightingale Museum. #histmed #medhum
I'm getting so many great ideas from this thread. Thanks for asking it! My 7yo daughter keeps revisiting this book. She often falls asleep with it in hand. royalsociety.org/medals-and-p...
Ah, perhaps that short link is limited to US or North America. Perhaps this version will work: link.springer.com/book/10.1007...
My little book turned one today. She had a rough start and didn’t get as much promotion as she deserved. But she’s currently 50% off via Amazon or 30% off via Palgrave (with code HOL30).

Excited to be presenting some new research on women and wellness in Jan 2025. Will be talking about heath while leading a heath-themed study abroad trip.
