You can tell it’s fake because it appears to show Thomas saying the end of democracy is a bad thing.

I think he means Peter Daou.
It sounds like the problem is that all the other academics in the room were too polite to stand up and tell him his whole premise is full of shit.
Man don't do that to me, I already feel ancient
Having had direct exposure to one of these groups, I am 100% sure this is true
I feel like it sometimes gets overlooked because it's a generally sad story, but this is literally what Grave of the Fireflies is about! Rejecting society and community during hard times when everyone needs to do their part turns out...badly.
John Waters is three years older!
It’s a lot of time if your flights are always around 6 am.
Being able to restrict comments to people who follow you (the OP), rather than people you follow, is IMO one of the best feature diffs Bluesky has from Twitter next to the nuclear block. It shuts down driveby sniping wo restricting real comments much. You can even get around with the tiniest effort!
Those usually cost ~$80/yr though, and it's only good on the one airline. Tough to stick with one when some randomly have prices double that of others on the same route.
Hm, I wonder if that will apply to the Hawaiian routes as well. They started a program before the merger that gives you a free bag on interisland routes, but not to the mainland. Mostly the integration has been a series of screwups, that that might be one benefit to finally come out of it.
Where is that free?? A lot of airlines are now charging >$60 for the first checked bag. Sometimes you get a free one on international flights but not always.
It's not about the waiting, it's having to pay $200 extra on a $900 plane ticket.
Yeah I had about the same amount of social interaction during it as before. Maybe slightly more during because I had an excuse to invite people over for dinner, since it was the only thing we could do.
That’s what the PhyloCode would do! Surely that will not cause any other problems…
Dang, why didn't I think of that!
Unfortunately this hasn't worked for me after four months, it's just gotten worse. Now reaching out to catch something before it falls means the most excruciating pain I've ever experienced.
I have enough work trying to unseat my own awful rep on the far opposite side of the country (who is running for reelection so it’s harder than getting rid of Golden).
There are in fact four candidates already running! And contrary to the insinuations of this whole silly thread, the most progressive one (who jumped in before Golden quit, based on his stupid vote for the SAVE act), is just about tied with LePage (p. 52 in this poll).
He's not, precisely *because* he has pissed off everyone on all sides (the right by being pro-choice etc., Dems by votes like this). Which is why this is all such a bad faith argument.
Mute
Specifically, named after a technological implement that is ostensibly neutral but in practice works only for evil.
Not sure how that’s relevant to Golden being an all-time idiot, unless you mean that’s specifically what ME02 voters want.
No but my family is there, so I see things like this
I know they don't teach diagramming sentences anymore, but...people get confused by that?? It seems pretty basic!
Increasingly thinking Jared Golden is the Bowdoin version.
A barn with signs saying LISTEN TO THE PEOPLE, TAKE BACK VERMONT, and REMEMBER IN NOVEMBER on it, in response to the Vermont same-sex civil unions bill.
A large red barn with TAKE BACK VERMONT painted on the side in large letters.
That's pretty recent though, as of ~2000 rural Vermont was still a lot of this. So I think he knows.
Maybe, but then turning around and making this thing that comes from an incredibly niche segment that very few actually hear be the central critique of fellow politicians in his own party (i.e. the reason for picking you over others in the primary) sounds really dumb.
You see a lot of these types in Hawaii too. The most diverse state is also most diverse in its fascist dipshits: Filipino, Hawaiian, Samoan, Portuguese, and white. Very few Japanese though, probably because not many are evangelicals or tradcaths like this guy.
Ugggghhh, that’s such a bummer to read. Especially because I have a couple pairs of Ex Officio pants that are great but finally wearing out. Columbia never seems to be quite right in fit or design.
