As a fun example, here's a cornish rex x Bengal. Oops litter from champion lines.

People associate traits and color SO strongly with breeds and overlook structure. And even then, no one would guess correctly for this girl.

An actual, in the wild, pedigree cat mix, probably won't look it.

People get really mad when you tell their proudly declared maine coon-siamese-forest cat-bengal mix is, in fact, none of those, and that they are mixing up color with breed. So I rarely tell people directly, but indirectly, while your DOG is likely a mix of breeds, your cat IS NOT. 97% of ALL cats have no breed. So unless you KNOW a parent was purebred, your cat is just a domestic shorthair or longhair. And that's perfectly okay!
