PENTAGON PRESS ASSOCIATION
STATEMENT
Today, the Defense Department confiscated the badges of the Pentagon reporters from virtually every major media organization in America. It did this because reporters would not sign onto a new media policy over its implicit threat of criminalizing national security reporting and exposing those who sign it to potential prosecution.
The Pentagon Press Association's members are still committed to reporting on the U.S. military. But make no mistake, today, Oct. 15, 2025 is a dark day for press freedom that raises concerns about a weakening U.S. commitment to transparency in governance, to public accountability at the Pentagon and to free speech for all.

A tweet from NYTimes Communications (@NYTimesPR) reads:
"We have appended an Editors' Note to a story about Mohammed Zakaria al-Mutawaq, a child in Gaza who was diagnosed with severe malnutrition. After publication, The Times learned that he also had pre-existing health problems. Read more below."
Below the tweet is an image with text on a dark blue background. The text states:
“Children in Gaza are malnourished and starving, as New York Times reporters and others have documented. We recently ran a story about Gaza’s most vulnerable civilians, including Mohammed Zakaria al-Mutawaq, who is about 18 months old and suffers from severe malnutrition. We have since learned new information, including from the hospital that treated him and his medical records, and have updated our story to add context about his pre-existing health problems. This additional detail gives readers a greater understanding of his situation. Our reporters and photographers continue to report from Gaza, bravely, sensitively, and at personal risk, so that readers can see firsthand the consequences of the war.”
— A spokesperson for The New York Times.
Genocide from starvation apparently doesn't count if there was a preexisting condition according to the New York Times.

Even megastars like Venus Williams get the health insurance blues
In the U.S., as nowhere else, health insurance and employment are deeply connected. And that means confusion can snare even elite athletes.
“When someone leaves a regular job maybe to start a business or take a break, there goes that health insurance deal. That's essentially what happened to Williams — she took a break from competition and lost access to her regular benefits.”

Giving this speech while adjourning the house to cover-up the Epstein files belongs on the Mount Rushmore of hypocrisy.

When I was little, the U.S. military came to our home at gunpoint and took me and my family away. We were imprisoned for years in barbed wire camps simply because we were Japanese American. I have spent my life telling that story, hoping it would never be repeated.

Pete Hesgeth — who wants to rename the Navy ship that honors Medgar Evers, a WWII veteran who landed on Omaha Beach — is using that same beach for a photo op in which he promises we will “never forget” the veterans there.
What an unbelievable asshole.

Therapy today was wildly validating. Literally.
My therapist said, “I want to stop for a minute and validate you. The way you feel is valid. Your response to that situation is not irrational.”
She also said, “I never want to encourage anyone to be petty … … … but” 🤭

I think we’ve reached a boiling point when it comes to ICE.
Today in Minneapolis, a militarized task force raided the beloved Lake Street taqueria, Las Cuatro Milpas—and the community was not having it.
Agents from ICE, the DEA, FBI, ATF, IRS and HHS rolled up looking like they were ready for war.

The Department of Homeland Security is NOT making our country safer.
They're ignoring immigration laws.
They're handcuffing moms, zip tying children and disappearing them without hearings or due process.
They're weaponizing DHS to purge people from the population.
They're hiding their faces.⬇️
