Well we will likely have the opportunity to see what East Pye actually do.

I think you are being too generous to the solar farm biodiversity claims. They will be focussed on energy output with an industrial mindset. It a toss up whether poorly managed farming or poorly managed solar is worse for biodiversity.
I walked that yesterday

We are now looking for an inspirational leader to guide our organisation as we expand across the Greek Ionian islands.

Trying to increase productivity by decreasing employment?
It would be genuinely helpful to record your Zakynthos observations www.ionianbutterflyconservation.org Millet Skipper is a new species only identified last year on Corfu
Record your Zakinthos observations at I ionianbutterflyconservation.org which now covers all the Ionian islands

Dark Green Fritillary, Isle of Mull, Scotland. Sad.
Seal to be an unfeasibly large number o market research analysts. I suggest the A1 powered analysis is incorrect.

Fabulous giant horse fly. Isle of Mull. 3cm length. Mind your horses.
Fab visual

Here is one from Corfu Greece
I not impressed by the East Pye proposals so far
Thanks to other kind folk on today's @norfolknats.bsky.social walk at Ashwellthorpe Wood, here's Encoelia furfuracea (Spring Hazelcup) and Byssomerulius corium (Netted Crust) on Hazel, and witches broom galls on Hornbeam likely caused by Taphrina carpini. Bit cool for many insects sadly.
A more reasonable direct comparison would be with traditional farms managed for biodiversity. Do you really think commercial solar farms will be managed for biodiversity?

Papillons: Masterpieces on Butterflies Tolmer Editeur β France 1925, 31.5cm x 44cm. These are being auctioned on Auctionet right now but the price might shock you.
As the report makes clear the improvement is over the abysmal biodiversity of our farmland. Sprayed into submission. Gain comes IF the solar farms are managed for biodiversity which on current form is unlikely unless mandated. Otherwise we will see routine spraying between panels.
Can you provide a reference for that statement please?
Butterfly recording across the Greek Ionian islands.
It was just announced on his facebookpage that Tristan Lafranchis has passed away π
A big loss for amateur lepidopterists in Europe, his accessible #butterfly ID-books have opened a world to a lot of us. As you can see, mine are heavily used. His legacy will surely live on. π¦
Thanks to generous donations Corfu Butterfly Conservation has reprinted its poster - free for butterfly enthusiasts from the Capodistrias Museum Corfu and for use in school natural history education.
Just caught a tree book by a school friend. Lepidoptera wins.
The Corfu Butterfly Survey is just 246 butterfly sightings short of having recorded 100,000 butterflies. We can reach this goal before the end of the year if you record any sightings of butterflies from Corfu on our website: corfubutterflyconservation.org, before 31st December 2024.
Big News
Our website is now capable of receiving butterfly and moth sightings from any of the Ionian islands. Please do submit your historic sightings as well as anything current.
