the reasons you should play this game are too plentiful to contain in one tweet, but the biggest is the sheer contrast between the two routes where the protagonist *doesn't* see all the red flags, and the one route where they *very much do*. it's a rather interesting direction for this narrative.

i'm highly dependent on music to write fanfiction. good music -> brain amv -> scene. this helps me with pacing too. but this also goes in reverse. now i can't listen to this one song without imagining takumi sumino and yugamu omokage hundred line fighting to the death. help.

if i may shill a game demo:

knee deep in love is a vn where the protagonist is well aware they are being pursued by the horrors (three yandere lis) and it's honestly so much fun watching them deal with it. lis are great too. gorgeous artwork, interesting plot devices. very scary. highly recommend.

summer just hit where i am and suddenly i don't want to do anything

reminded of when my high school senior gym class got taken out on a happy day and it just killed my desire to do anything at all ever for the rest of the school year

Is it ethical to livetweet an indie otome / visual novel demo? On bluesky? If you think you're going to enjoy it? Staying in your lane re: comparisons? Following streaming guidelines? Extremely genuine question.

What a day to not be in [city i normally live in]. I'm out here agonizing over potentially missing the greatest party on Earth, and everyone's got woodcock fever.

I've got Obligations. So, of course, I do my best to focus on my Obligations. But my brain does not want the Obligations. It wants one thing only, and that is to write fanfiction.

Keeping up with geopolitical events is actually the biggest time sink. It's worse than everything else.

Nothing else I can say that hasn't been said already. Our generation will never get that time back. It hurts.

I'm both a writer and a programmer. I've debugged AI-generated code and it was an honest-to-god headache, when I could have written something that worked even better myself.

Now they're telling me people enjoy "debugging" AI-generated stories? Get outta here.

Unironically the reason I began creating much older OCs is because League of Legends didn't want the Ruined King story to be the love story of two old people and I was like "Fuck that! I would kill for a story where a 50 year old man ruins the world just to be with his wife for even one day longer!"

there is a horrible contradiction between the fact that i think we need to abolish our societal systems of punitive justice and the fact that i just can't get enough of writing torture and saw traps and revenge plots and punishment as a narrative tool

I don't have a good read on her personality but please let her be a complete failgirl villain. Like I know she's one of the most powerful people in the ffxiv universe but please let her be silly

It honestly is a curse that I have so many web essays I want to write but I just hate the idea of *pointlessly gushing* on the Internet when I could be trying to make an argument, but who wants to be that guy? *bonks self* You can do whatever the hell you want, man. Stop being so uptight.

A screenshot of a short review of Paranormasight: The Mermaid's Curse. The review reads as follows:

A heart-pumping mystery and a tear-jerking coming-of-age story both, Paranormasight: File 38 continues the trend of letting the humanity of its characters shine forth in a tale about the supernatural. While I can definitely say I preferred the first game, File 23/tSMoH, Paranormasight: File 38/tMC is an equally unforgettable story. It's incredibly satisfying to keep your ears open for anything and anyone that can solve the predicaments that characters in other paths are facing, yet the inescapable dread of knowing where the answer lies is all the more gripping when you know. Even so, the game throws twists both expected and unexpected, that change the nature of the story completely when they are revealed. The Paranormasight games are suspenseful horror stories, but they never forget the people that fill their worlds, never reducing its main characters to plot devices, and even taking care to flesh out the side characters when they can. Every single character feels so whole, in such a satisfying way, whatever their roots or their motivations. Everyone feels complicated. Unlike some other high-concept games that project realism but fail to deliver satisfaction, this game presents realism through its characters, and hope through its plot - a perfect recipe for a story that grips you and subverts your expectations. Unsurprisingly, a hardcore Harue Shigima PNS1 fan is a hardcore Yumeko Shiki PNS2 fan, lol. And Arnav Barnum is going to be an incredible source of reaction images for me. But some of the most loving writing in this story goes to Sato Shiranami, who is a wonderful heroine from start to finish. Achieving the true ending may take some thinking outside the box, but you'll have earned it, by the end of it all.

Finished Paranormasight File 38: The Mermaid's Curse.

What an incredible game! The series continues its hallmark of being a story about people in situations that affect them in profound ways. Everyone is so ordinary, and so complicated, at the same time. An emotional story told with love.
