Prince passed away 10 years ago today.

RIP, your music lives on.

Humans are messed. We know we’re a blip. We act like we’re the whole story anyway. We’re right to do it. Iconic behaviour. That’s messed. That’s human. That’s exactly right.

At the same time. Same brain. That’s the bit that gets me. We’re doomed and we’re having a snack about it.

Dumb enough to think we shouldn’t be. Messed enough to care anyway. Humans are messed. We invented existential dread and the biscuit.

Messed. Gloriously messed. We built telescopes to see the void, then felt sad that the void doesn’t care. We named the stages of planetary death, gave them dates, drew pictures, and then went “wait, that’s us?” We’re smart enough to know we’re temporary.

Invented calculus to figure out how the Sun will kill us in 7.6 billion years, then immediately used that same brain to panic about it while drinking tea we boiled with the kettle, then wrote journals about the existential dread so we could process it.
