It’s not bad enough that Trump blundered us into a war. He also has to look like an idiot doing it, threatening to blockade the strait Iran already blockades.

I'm reading "Frank Zappa's America" & am not sure the author's not a little kind to Frank, but it has made me go back to "Absolutely Free" and "Only in it for the Money." This Frank is so much more interesting than what he would become.

Yep. Or decide to speed the line by pulling Latinos out of it.

Pictures and video of ICE at the New Orleans airport show them doing nothing to speed the lines & patrolling them instead.

A panel at this year's Folk Alliance on #AI made me think we need to think about its relationship to music in a more granular way, starting with our assumptions about audiences and musicians. Thanks @antigravitymag.bsky.social for giving me room to riff.

Legendary WWE wrestler Mick Foley brings one-man show to New Orleans His signature match is 1998’s “Hell in a Cell,” when he faced The Undertaker in a match with the ring enclosed inside a large, chain-link cage.

“I remember the match I had with Shane Douglas in front of 26 fans in Poca, West Virginia, in 1986 almost as well as I remember winning the WWE from Dwayne Johnson” - #MickFoley, who’ll be in New Orleans at Southport Hall on Monday night.

This is just raw, uncut id. Whatever comes into his pumpkin has to come out, and none of it is incoherent or contradictory to him because he lives in an endless present. There's no past to deal with or future to consider, just a present where he imagines most excellent outcomes.

Ugh. Watching the predictable punditry asserting the question will be whether Democrats want a fighter or a moderate. That’s not fair to Talarico or Crockett & oversimplifies the question. How about an authentic candidate that speaks to & for their electorate? #duh

Tonight, I tried to vote. So did a lot of other people. The state of Texas had other ideas.

A good first-hand account of the voting mess in Texas yesterday, one coming to many of us in November. timnapalmstegall.substack.com/p/tonight-i-...

Just saw a beautifully, endearingly amateurish opening band. Not a song I can remember, never more than 5 strings in tune, and songs all moved in the same way from verse to chorus. And it was so sincere that I’m glad I saw it.

It was fun to go back & chew on NO's entry in the post-rock moment, Jai Alai and the reissue of their 2000 "Division" on @strangedaisy.bsky.social. It's more concise and measured than many of the post-rock bands whose reputations have endured.

From the NYT: "Senator John Curtis, Republican of Utah, said in a statement that the ruling affirms 'despite all the noise of the moment, that the founders’ system of checks and balances remains strong nearly 250 years later.'”

Yes, after Congress abandoned its role in that system.

For those concerned about waste during Mardi Gras, think about the fact that 3 parades collectively had more than 100 floats today. What could anyone throw in the last 50 that people hadn’t already caught 10 of?

On Saturday night, #LasCafeteras finished their set at #FolkAlliance by revving up and updating Dylan's "Blowing in the Wind" for 2026. Nervy, but I'm there for anyone who adds, "How many people do you have to deport / before you feel safe in your bed?"

Am I understanding Rubio correctly & Trump plans to passive/aggressively control Venezuela, not telling it what to do but blocking oil exports until it does the “right” thing?
