Waiting for my mom while she shopped at department stores was my great teacher of patience. No devices, no games, no screens, just an hour and a half of total boredom.

Yes! I was 12 when my Gram's new husband told me who was in the back seat of the car, "Little Girls, are to be seen and not heard". My Gram's asked him to pull the car over. We got out. She taught me to be a fierce, independent woman. The marriage was short lived.
