There's an easy solution to that: talk to other GMs who will never, ever be in that campaign about said puzzle box. Like, online if an IRL game, or vice versa, if possible.

So, you probably noticed how my build thread kind of petered out. I am starting repairs and the like, but there's a lot to do. ...that being said, I will be stopping with social media for the indefinite future. I'll still have private messages open, but not reading or responding to anything else.
