Headed to #AEFP2026. First and only work trip to the US for the year. I didn’t want to miss out but having big feelings about it. If anyone is around and wants to meet up, lemme know.

I know that the job market is rough this year for Econ PhDs. @utoronto.ca has expanded its postdoc funding. If you are on the market and work on school finance or early childhood education and are interested in a PostDoc, let me know! #econsky #educsky postdoc.sgs.utoronto.ca/current-post...
Yay! This is going to be so much fun. Thanks to the @atkinsoncentre.bsky.social for being such amazing conveners.
It’s amazing how we need to be shown time after time that bandaid fixes don’t work and we need to fix the real inequities in our education system. apple.news/A6PN2wIorR4G...
@larsvil.bsky.social Do you have any thoughts?
Hey #econsky. What is the standard nowadays for data replication using GPT models? Other than complete prompt documentation, model specifications, input data, and setting the temperature close to zero, what does a researcher need to do?
Thanks for letting this silly economist tag along on this project @sborwein.bsky.social @lindawhite.bsky.social
Over time, we see little change in investment behaviour linked to rising inequality, with one notable exception: spending on lessons and courses, where both income and education play a role.
These patterns may reflect the value highly educated parents place on cultural capital, status, and competition for top academic pathways.
In contrast, higher-income families do increase spending with rising income, but they do not uniquely prioritize education relative to other expenditures.
Highly educated parents spend more than income alone would predict. This suggests that education itself, not just financial means, shapes how families prioritize educational investments.
In Canada, your degree may matter more than your bank account when it comes to investing in your child’s education. A quick thread 🧵
Oh my....this is almost hilarious....but it's not because it's pretty egregious.
I am not an AI hater, but OMG folks. Please don't just use ChatGPT to write your grant applications. It's obvious, and it really doesn't do you any favours. Not saying that you can't use it to help in the process but that's not what I'm reading. Please save me!!!!
She's amazing. Keep up the good fight.
Hey #edusky and #econsky. I’m teaching a new course on quasi-experimental methods at an ed school. All my materials are super econ heavy. Anyone teach a similar class that would be willing to share their syllabus for inspiration?
Wow. Super cute to be announcing this on the last few hours of the school year. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

Hi everyone! I'm teaching causal inference for education policy class in the fall. It's for students with basic stats training but not advanced. Does anyone else teach something similar? Any fun ideas on how to teach it?
