Please explain contemporary American life succinctly.

“I understand we live in a giant city and we have to have rules, and that’s what makes society society,” she says. “But I do have a feeling sometimes I’m just gonna make this one not apply to me."

I just finished an early copy I received of this book and you absolutely need to read it. It’s available for pre-order and I promise you will love it. I will be thinking about and returning to this collection a lot.

white women and queers - and people who love them - this is a good week to look GOP voters you know in the eye and ask them if they think it should be legally permissible for men to shoot you or your loved one in the head on the basis of being a “fucking bitch”

The everyday courage of normal people is breathtaking

It's incredibly demoralizing to constantly see the highest institutions of government and academia and the most important and widely seen news outlets knuckle under one after another, but then to see the gulf between that and the bravery of communities and neighbors and teachers - that's something

US Border Agents Intentionally Stepped in Front of Moving Vehicles to Justify Shooting at Them An internal review of the US Border Patrol raises serious questions about the agency’s use-of-force policy.

Well, well ... what a surprise. "Border Patrol agents have intentionally and unnecessarily stepped in front of moving cars to justify using deadly force against vehicle occupants." www.thenation.com/article/arch...

When you get the reputation of being the guy with the encouraging words on New Year's Eve, it can start to come through as a little pressure -- what if the situation on the ground is worse than usual? what if people are more scared than they usually are, and with cause? what use are good vibes then?

that the Whos celebrate Christmas suggests some knowledge of Christ, but whether this is our anthropic Christ or a distinctive Who-Christ remains obscure; some have argued Christianity was introduced to them during their refuge with Horton, which of course turns us to the matter of Elephant Religion

The copyright of folk stories, narrowed into copyright is an abomination. Folk tales belong to the folks, not Disney. We can do with them as we wish.

I think librarians and archivists will be even more important in the AI age. People will want verifiable information. We will need to keep evidence. We will need to continue teaching information literacy skills in an age where nothing can be trusted at first glance.

Wanted to highlight this as I push people toward shopping their indies! As a former bookseller, this resonates. The 1st request would get me looking into the book, the 2nd would put it into consideration, and the 3rd would result in additional orders (generally speaking). Your interest matters!

I could really REALLY use some more orders and love for Issue 20. It's here. It's gorgeous. It comes with a free gorgeous bookmark.

Priced fairly, printed beautifully, shipping immediately. 🖤🤍❤️
