‘People still remember it 40 years later’: the making of Chuckie Egg The iconic game that came to define 8-bit programming still conjures flutters of nostalgia 40 years on – all thanks to a 15-year-old tea boy who worked a Saturday shift in a computer shop in Greater M...

Hi I wrote about the making of classic platformerChuckie Egg and talked to its creator Nigel Alderton. Please give it a read as I want to show there’s an audience for this gaming history stuff 🙏

AW YEAH this was similar to that midnight sons one, in that it landed just when I started really buying comics, was all over this one! It is a bit rubbish though, can’t argue with that.

a bear vacuuming a floor as a japanese salaryman looks on in terror

found out about the manga kuma gurashi which is like those ones where a manic pixie dream girl comes into a salaryman's life and starts doing all his domestic chores for him to heal his heart except in this one it's a realistically drawn bear and the salaryman is terrified on every single page

Turns out the upcoming Shadow Of The Beast double bill lands on 1/5 so that’s an #amayga video, which will basically be saying “these games are right bobbins” for a good ten minutes or so based on the script so far

Last time it was on near me the entire cinema chain shut down for months to stop me from seeing it. Someone mentioned something about a pandemic but I know it was closed to stop me seeing Akira

I don't wanna tax the rich.

The rich want to surveil me for using a bank. The rich want to suppress my wages & conscript me into debt slavery if I get injured at work. The rich want my kids to outsource THOUGHT to a computer program that poisons their air.

I wanna go full Vlad Tepes mode on them.

Infiltrator – “Papers, please” I’ve talked about many British developers who made their start by making home computer games based on arcade games, often Atari ones. This story will be a rare instance of a North American develope…

In 1986, a Canadian called Chris Gray made a stealth game locked behind a helicopter sim. U.S. Gold successfully sold it to the UK as "the game that rocked America". Gray was still a teenager, but already the co-creator of Boulder Dash. New post on Infiltrator:

Lynne Thigpen as "The Chief" from Where In Time Is Carmen Sandiego

Lock the fuck in, Gumshoes. Carmen Sandiego stole a priceless wax pressing of "One of These Nights" by the Eagles. You've got to stop her before she travels back in time to 149 BC Carthage and trades it to Scipio Africanus the Younger for a kilo of the good shit.

Facts. It's a tough line to thread, like lost just about gets away with it (looooOOOOoooossssst) and law and order is just too funky for lyrics

Any good theme for TV or film you should be able to sing along with just saying the title, fairly sure even Schindler's List pulls that off
